There are several components on the installation guide that add lines to /etc/inittab in order to start some services. This is not recommended. It's better to use the system facilities to manage services instead of adding lines to /etc/inittab. Also, if the OS uses upstart instead of system-V, as later versions of CentOS do, they will ignore the lines added to /etc/inittab.
