Dear Dimitris,
  an alternative option is to take a look at the "Unit Functional Testing
Framework" (
http://catalogue.fiware.org/enablers/unit-functional-testing-framework)
that is made for RESTful APIs.
As this is a framework it most probably require more development, in terms
of writing the code you need, but it's based on a good and flexible library
for REST testing.

I hope this can help you in solving your situation.
