> Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) CEO Geoffrey Qhena expressed confidence last week that projects that had been adjudicated under the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) would proceed, despite the recent resistance shown by Eskom to signing a power purchase agreement (PPA) for Redstone CSP project. Interestingly, Eskom CEO Brian Molefeis also an IDC board member.
>
> Speaking at the release of group annual results, Qhena noted that, IDC had approved R360-million to to support its participation in the 100 MW Redstone CSP project, which is being developed together with ACWA Power and Solar Reserve.

> As a state-owned financial giant, IDC is playing a quite active and crucial role in the development of CSP projects in South Africa. As listed in the table below, IDC has been involved in the co-development of almost all the CSP projects under the government’s REIPPP program. In all these projects IDC have financed some element of community participation, ranging from 10% up to 25% to 26% in some projects.
