Dear members of the FIWARE Community, According to the FIWARE Foundation bylaws <https://www.fiware.org/foundation/bylaws/>, which were designed following best practices of open source communities, the FIWARE Technical Steering Committee is *"the body where technical decisions are taken"*. The FIWARE Technical Steering Committee is formed by representatives of teams involved in the development of FIWARE components and remarkable individuals, all elected by FIWARE active contributors. This ensures that technical direction of FIWARE is driven by one key principle in any open source community: *meritocracy*. Therefore, I'm obliged to remind that it is not the CTO of the FIWARE Foundation who decides on technological direction (neither at high nor low level). This has also never been the case before. The mission of members of the technical staff in FIWARE Foundation, starting from its CTO, is to support the tecnical vision and contribute to activities (including development of technical roadmap) decided at the FIWARE Technical Steering Committee level. As you may know, the FIWARE Technical Steering Committee meets on a weekly every Monday from 10:30am to 12:30am CET and report on status of the different FIWARE technical chapters (with the opportunity to review the status and roadmap in every chapter every 8 weeks). Every member of the FIWARE Community is invited to join in order to follow technical direction first hand, this way ensuring another key principle in any open source community: *transparency*. Different Roadmap Working Groups emanate from the FIWARE Technical Steering Committee to carry out discussion on specific topics (e.g., Data Spaces, AI/ML and Robotics) on a more frequent basis, typically weekly or bi-weekly. These meetings are equally open to all members of the FIWARE Community who wish to join. If you have any further question, don't hesitate to contact me and Martin Bauer, in copy, vice-chair of the FIWARE Technical Steering Committee.
