Hi Nuria, all,

First for IoT chapter a demo is under preparation involving Telefonica, NEC and Orange. This demo will show the relationship between the gateway using 2 kind of simulated sensors (Rasperry Pi+ a tablet) and IoT Backend GEs directly on FI-Lab (IoT Broker + Orion). The idea is also to show that we have real-time and concrete data (Santander sensors) and to show how we can break the silos using NGSI API. So it is clearly a technical demo without a dedicated apps on top of it to show how GEs can interact.

Regarding this demo we had some questions about IT facilities so I had a call with Christoph Thuembler at the beginning of last week. The facilities will be the following:

·       ECFI2 is hosted in TU Munich by the Computer Science Department used to provide large and free WiFi access but also Ethernet access if required,

·       We can also have fixed IP addresses

·       ECFI2 space is available on the 16th so we can install and test the demo the day before the conference

·       TUM team will be available on the 16th as well as the 17th and 18th if we have some connectivity concerns

·       Optionnally we could ask for some additional screens if this is required
But of course for all these facilities (fixed IP address, additional screen) it is better if we can anticipate and provide a list of what we need.

Regarding the number of screens we need also on the FI-Ware stand, we have to define how many demos will be managed in parallel to be sure that we have enough space. So I understand that I2ND would not have a demo. What about Cloud, Apps, Security, DCM?

Hi Pier,

I understand the difficulties. Your chapter is indeed more difficult for the purpose of the demos and may not be needed in Munich. Let me explain a bit more.

In the last edition of ECFI (Brussels) FI-WARE and a very nice stand but no content whatsoever in terms of demos and technical performance. For this new event this has to change dramatically because of two reasons:


·        Our immediate customers will be there: SME and other users interested in testing FI-WARE plus the accelerators, which are in the end a network of multipliers in terms of users. They need to be convinced about the technology to be able to convince others. If we come there with illustrative demos and a lot of content they will not come to us to send FI-WARE representatives to each event in the coming weeks/months

·        The EC will look very carefully at us there because FI-WARE has become the central piece of the programme (even more than before). Whatever work we show there will be useful for the review. There will also be journalists

In any case, as said, the important thing is the presence of FI-WARE in general- What is expected?

·        We are free to decide, but we will have a stand that will be there for almost 2 days. The idea is to organize an agenda of demos that will run periodically. These demos should illustrate on the one hand what can be done with FI-WARE (functionalities in the context of concrete applications) and on the other hand how to use the GE, for the technical audience.

·        We will also have a slot of 80 'shared with XIFI for a demo (or several) in one of the stages. For this I think the most suitable approach is selecting the most promising demos of the cities involved in the project

I hope this clarifies a bit more the expected role of FI-WARE there.

You have to ensure that the right support from your chapter is there if we decide to include a demo that uses one of your GE.

Dear Nuria,

 Concerning ECFI Munich, there is not a strict requirement for the presence of I2ND demos, according to the opinion expressed by Juanjo time ago during the WPL/WPA calls. Additionally I have to manage a private issue that appeared in the last couple of weeks, this is unfortunately  during the same days of the conference therefore I cannot attend to the event.
However, as Telecom Italia we are actively supporting one of the smart cities involved in FI-WARE, i.e. the Municipality of Torino through the partners TO-WL and POLITO, and I'm aware that Sergio asked them if they could provide a short presentation/demonstration of the developments they are doing with the FI-WARE GEis (in this case concerning the Data chapter).

We spoke about the event organization during the WPL/WPA call yesterday, but it emerged that none of the people in call had a clear and definite idea of the format of the event, hence it becomes difficult to understand exactly what each should provide (including hence TO-WL and POLITO, who asked to me more info on it).

Could you give us more details on what would be the expected contribution (per chapter, per 'application domain' e.g. smart cities, etc) for both the conference sessions and the stand?

I would like to take advantage of this message to remind you that FI-WARE will have a unique and very important opportunity to show its results in the next edition of the ECFI event.



ECFI will be held in Munich on the 17-18 September. FI-WARE is one of the organizing projects. See further info in http://www.ecfi.eu/munich2014/.

FI-WARE will be present through several talks and especially through a demo stage and a stand- The audience will be people interested in FI in general but also-and this is extremely important- SMEs interested in using FI-WARE technologies and Accelerator projects of Phase 3. Therefore, our users/customers will be there expecting FI-WARE to show all the technology "at work".



We need all WP Leaders and/or Architects to be present in Munich and prepare a demo. This had been anticipated by Juanjo.



Miguel, could you please tackle this point in today's teleconference or at least prepare people to answer to my requests in the coming weeks?



One option is havig a combined demo where we show the potential of using some GE as a bundle; another option is selecting several demo that illustrate how to use several GE of a technical chapter.

In any case all WPs/chapter HAVE TO be there showing demos and guiding FI-WARE users on how to use our GE.



I will be the coordinator for this. Your immediate tasks are:

·        Think about your approach for the demo (how to illustrate the work of your WP thinking about the audience that I have described)

·        Send me an initial description of the demo, duration and your specific technical requirements (I need to communicate them to the organizers)

·        And of course, register to the event (there is a cheap ticket of 90 euro that includes both days and the dinner) ASAP.
