[Fiware-wpa] Updates on ECFI2_Concept, programme and budget (URGENT FEEDBACK FROM FI-WARE NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Hi all ,

Nuria, since you insist, let me share my point of view that we should
really go to where our customers/developers already are!

We should present FI-PPP at well-established events instead of
organizing our own events where it is difficult to attract the relevant
customers/developers and we end up being largely among ourselves. Last
ECFI, we even started by asking them to pay for the privilege to talk to
us :-).

On the other hand, a positive example was our one-day booth during CeBIT
(full disclosure, I suggested and helped organize this event). Even
though it was a first time experiment and we had issues getting all
partners to plan their contribution in time, we have been able to
address many, many more people from the Real World (TM) than would ever
have been possible at ECFI. And the cost was rather low as well -- much,
much lower than what I have heard from ECFI.

For ECFI in Brussels, I could at least see the point of enabling direct
contact with commission and political people (which did work to some
degree, at least). But even that point is not relevant for other
locations. Maybe, I am missing something, but so far I have not seen a
convincing concept that would even get us close to the number of
developers and business people we have been able to meet in the one day
event at CeBIT.

I would suggest that with the experience from CeBIT it would be
significantly more useful to spend the money we have left on an extended
and better prepared presence at CeBIT next year. This could include more
technical content; more, better, and larger integrated demos of FI-PPP
functionality; developer seminars; hackathons; and others. The CeBIT
organizers would even be interested in supporting us in order to attract
even larger crowds of business related developers to CeBIT (BTW, DFKI
would certainly be willing to help organize the event again).

I am sure for other domains, similar events exist that we could target
in the mean time.

I should probably add that this view is consensus also in FIcontent.
Besides CeBIT as a developer event, FIcontent is now also focusing on
events that provide direct contact with end users and enable us to
perform large-scale experiments. This may not be as relevant for
FI-WARE/FI-Core, but then -- I could see a positive point there as well.

Best,

	Philipp
