[Fiware-wpl] Request from the EC: Fwd: FI-WARE: first impressions of newcomers

Hi all,

  As anticipated, the EC has asked that we take inmediate action regarding positioning of FI-WARE GEis in the Catalogue as well as access from the several websites (see mail attached)

  Davide: Later this evening I'll send to you the feedback and proposals I gathered from third developers we asked to connect to our websites and try experimenting with GEis without further assistance.  There were some proposals that were mapped into concrete actions on the FI-WARE Catalogue.

Dear Juanjo,

We are happy to see that FI-WARE is increasingly raising awareness beyond the FI-PPP, and that more and more developers are looking into it.

At this moment, any criticism by developers on social media may have a large impact and may dissuade other people to look into FI-WARE or may influence the way people approach FI-WARE.   As a result, the FI-WARE consortium needs to investigate and possibly guide the first impressions that a new developer will get when s/he approaches the FI-WARE websites for the first time.

As an example, all FI-WARE GEis in the FI-WARE Catalogue are positioned at the same level. They clearly are not at the same level of maturity. Access to GEis in the FI-WARE catalogue should be revised so that first-time customers will be guided into experimenting with those GEis that are most mature/usable, for instance those GEis that got positive feedback from external developers during FI-WARE hackathons and challenges. FI-WARE GEis that will not continue in FI-Core or for which development was stopped during the last review or that are likely to be discontinued or that may lack the necessary support during FI-PPP phase 3 must be marked as such. Such GEis should not be at the same level as other GEis.

All this requires immediate action so we expect that you spend all the efforts required to implement the necessary changes asap.
