[Fiware-wpl] Cleaning up the FIWARE Catalogue

Dear all,

  Yesterday, Davide and me had a meeting and agreed on the actions we will put in place to deal with the clean up contents of the FI-WARE Catalogue and the eLearning platform.

  We will perform the necessary changes in two phases:

  *   phase 1) filter the actual contents by leaving info only about FI-WARE GE open source reference implementations and cleaning info about external availability (this phase should finish in few days)
  *   phase 2) restructure the way to navigate the published contents (design will start in parallel to phase 1 and will be implemented right afterwards) and mechanism to provide support to GEris (e.g., answers in StackOverflow)

  A number of concrete actions/steps will be executed to implement phase 1:

1.1 a list (google doc) will be created with the actual GEris by chapter (starting from what's actually in the Catalogue) - responsible: Engineering/TID
1.2 WPLs will review the list and will mark which GEri have to be kept in the Catalogue and eLearning platform (they should be the ones among the existings that will be supported in FI-Core) - responsibles: all WPLs
1.3 hide all the entries, in the Catalogue and eLearning platform, related to GEris not marked as to be kept in the shared doc as the result of previous steps - responsible: Engineering
1.4 identify GEris for which contents of the eLearning platform must be replaced because of poor quality - responsible: Engineering
1.5 for GEris which will remain published in the Catalogue, the only information in the Terms and Conditions tab must be the open source license. The title of the section will be "Open Source License".   Text describing support will be dropped since SMEs approaching us are providing feedback this leads to threads ("do I have to reach a bilateral agreement to use this stuff?) that prevent usage - responsible: Engineering with the help of GEri owners
1.6 (which can run in parallel to implementation of phase 2) GEri owners to produce suitable eLearning contents to replace items identified in step 1.4

  Please stay tuned to act in step 1.2 once 1.1 Davide reports the action is finished.

  We will share with you a first design of the user experience design (phase 2) once we come up with a concrete proposal so that we can receive your feedback.  Regarding support, we anticipate that we will go for Stack Overflow, given the rather positive experience we have gathered with some of the GEris we have started to support in that space.   An active presence in Stack Overflow will push our visibility for sure.
