Dear Partners, Find below retrospective from Sprint 5.4.1 (July-16). There's interesting feedback from FI-C3 Final review, both on the positive side, and the negative as well. The issue holding the content is https://jira.fiware.org/browse/COR-850 ----------------------------------------------- WHAT WENT WELL ACHIEVEMENT FEELING. Coaches * All the normal activities were handled without any particular problem, including Community Account assignment, technical review, incoming general and technical requests from the Startups/SMEs (CEED-Tech, IMPACT, SpeedUp! Europe). * The acceleration phase for CEED-Tech within FIWARE Acceleration Programme ended this month and all the "closure activities" related to coaching are handled without issues; I (Marco Terrinoni) will continue to provide "on-demand" support to Startups/SMEs until the first week of August (first week of the next Sprint) (CEED-Tech). * The webinar (related to FABulous) was interesting to explain the right procedures in order to define the correct line for the evaluation in the 3rd call (FABulous). * New FLUA tickets about request to resources in FIWARE Lab have been provided (FABulous). * Final review of the ~40 FI-C3 SMEs took place beginning of July; at the except of few, most have made excellent progresses from both technical and business perspectives. The following is the list of positive testimonials collected during these days: (FI-C3) * Good. Will continue to use it (Security); * We have them installed (the GEs) we will keep them; * Location based notification together with SpagoBI analytics really provided a string and easy-to-go added value to the App. I would certainly recommend these enablers to friends; * Good to be free and has reached a good level of maturity. Being able to deploy the app in cities having deployed a FIWARE platform is a good marketing advantage; * Saved us about 6 months of development and eased merging of heterogeneous data sources; * Hard to learn at the beginning but powerful components at the end; * Some enablers allowed to speed-up our developments and are of professional grade; * Cepheus was easy to use, we will keep it. * Zurich and Trento FIWARE Lab node teams were very helpful and responsive for FLUA requests (FInish). * Another review of projects was scheduled for the top-ten Startups/SMEs, in order to check the FIWARE usage (if enablers are planned or implemented in their architecture). This final evaluation was based on the final deliverables (provided in the last phase, i.e. Phase 4) (FINODEX). * Nothing relevant to report (INCENSe, CreatiFI, FRACTALS, SmartAgriFood). Exploitation * Working on Exploitation Plan deliverable, introducing all the reports gathered * Fine tuning on the definition of the individual exploitation template * Extended deadline for Standardization deliverable (task 3.3.2) from M26 to M28 (December 2016) to cover the establishment of ISG. For this purpose we would need to include EGM as a new partner in WP3.3 Quality Assurance * Testing of GEs APIs * Labelling model produced * EMG, Fraunhofer and Grassroots engaged in the task and tasks assigned * Testing performance of 5.3 versions of GEs * Request new assessment to Fraunhofer Blog post for public communication Lab * More nodes involved within Agile processes than in the past * Most of the nodes are independent with Jira and they do not need help with work items creation Apps * BusinessAPIEcosystem has met most of the targets of the sprint (1 missing) Cloud * Most coding completed as expected * Support is being provided promptly Data * Generally, most of the planned sprint items were completed, as expected * Progressing on the Pylons to Flask migration epic in CKAN * Asynchronous feedback from Orion GE owner to chapter leader has proved to be effective WebUI * 3D-UI-XML3D finished a feature that allows users to register their own Web Components Ops: * GUI for GE Global instance and Usage Data have been almost completed * Monitoring of GEis global instances finished * Good inertia in finalizing the deployment of the monitoring architecture * Tools for checking and retrieving the OpenStack components version completed Academy: * Progresses in line with the plan. Catalogue * There has been additional progress in the issues related to the complete application of Data Protection regulations to the Catalogue Security * Work performed according to plan (features & work items scheduled), * Synchronization through plenary meeting held, * Update of the plans to reach R5 milestone and final steps WHAT TO IMPROVE: BLOCKADE/RISK FEELING GOALS/TARGETS/OBJECTIVES * QA: Test of bundles performance * QA: Upload code and guidelines to github * QA: Labelling all tested GEs * QA: Complete verification of GEs * QA: Complete wiki page * OPS: Still work to do on deployment of the new monitoring architecture (not completed yet) * CLD: the team has to gear up to complete all of the R5 Open specs deliverables * APP: Due to summer holidays not too much stories weren't planned for this sprint * COACHING: There isn't official and common plan regarding the coaching activities related to the end of FIWARE acceleration programme. Marco will contact Stefano de Panfilis to get instructions on how to proceed LAB * COACHING: Commercial FIWARE Lab Instances should be published in a greater way, allowing startups/SMEs to embrace FIWARE cloud environment even after the acceleration pahase HELP DESK/SUPPORT * COACHING: Not very fast response from the IDM team to a user questions on StackOverflow (Finish) * COACHING: Response from IDAS team should be improved. Request has been answered for the first time 1 month and a half later (INCENSE) TEAM: COMMUNICATION/RESPONSIVENESS/COMMITMENT * LAB: try to involve also those nodes which are not so present in FIWARE agile dynamics * EXPL: we should circulate the guidelines to obtain feedback from the rest of partners before end of next week regarding exploitation plans (ATOS) and involvement of Open Communities Deliverable (IBM) * EXPL: Partners should be more committed during next 2 months to deliver all feedback required from Exploitation side (Individual Exploitation Plans and Involvement in Open Source Communities report) * DATA: In some cases, sprint velocity has been affected by several members on the teams not being available due to summer holidays, without replacements * COACHING: No feedback provided from FrontierCities, European Pionneers or SOUL-FI OTHERS * COACHING: FI-C3 final review got following feedback: * Not yet at production grade level (FIWARE Lab); * Steep learning curve but once in, it proved to be useful. Now hoping for non-disruption of the offer and development of commercial hosting at cost competing with existing cloud offers; * Will maintain use of FIWARE enablers if they are supported and demonstrate capability to scale (Security, Orion, POI); * Will go on with enablers if FIWARE Community brings us customers and new apps; * Not all tested enablers were very stable. At least Context Broker and Object Storage were and we will go on using them; * Orion and POI proxy proved to be useful and stable and baseline for next offer. Some had security hole so overall, failsafe solutions have to be implemented; * FIWARE has to be pushed. An improvement has been seen on the technology side. It is now more stable and documented. But the real community is still to be created. For the future, IoT and Data NGSI enablers are the best one and likely to be used in future applications; * Steep learning curve, but powerful and royalty free but some enablers not maintained anymore; * FIWARE technology has been the less interesting part of the FIWARE Acceleration Prgramme; * FIWARE is not mature solution to build commercial solution. In our case, only Orion and Cosmos usable in our commercial offer; * Still needs to be consolidated and communicated. Slowly growing community. Thanks for effort, contributions and cooperation!!
