Dear Partners, Please, find below global retrospective for Sprint 5.2.2 You can also access them at the corresponding JIRA issue: https://jira.fiware.org/browse/COR-555 I'm concerned by the many "TEAM issues" reported. I would appreciate your best cooperation so than we work smoothly, and became an effective and efficient team. Global Retrospective for Sprint 5.2.2 WHAT WENT WELL ACHIEVEMENT FEELING. Coaches * Several coaches successfully approached to the new SMEs and Startups for the new accelerators Open Calls, including the evaluation, check, and double check of the initial assessments regarding the FIWARE usage for the selected teams; eventually, FIWARE usage assessment scorecards have been produced (CEED Tech, FINODEX, INCENSe). * Normal coaching activities, including tickets management and interaction with SMEs, were handled without any problem (CreatiFI, FI-C3, IMPACT, FI-ADOPT, FRACTALS, FInish, SmartAgriFood). * Nice responsiveness from FIWARE Lab Budapest node team (CEED Tech). * Evaluation for VIP Program completed in FI-C3 accelerator (FI-C3). * No activities in Sprint 5.2.2 for SpeedUP accelerator (SpeedUP! Europe). * Help provided to SMEs while migrating from FIWARE Lab Nodes that are shutting down (FI-ADOPT, FRACTALS, FInish, SmartAgriFood). Collaboration * Many activities running in terms of collaboration that will help in promoting the usage of FIWARE, specifically: * Good results from the activities planned with NIST. Trip to US to meet some US cities resulting in potential proposals involving FIWARE with US and EU-based cities (activity led by FI-LINKS) * Good results associated to promotion of FIWARE in other regions of the world, and of special relevance the progress in Brazil pushed forward by Engineering * Tight relationship with OASC. FIWARE is not the only solution, but OASC provides a suitable framework to extent the take-up of FIWARE by cities. Many discussions are happening in terms of fostering the implementation of OASC in those cities that have joined OASC * These collaboration actions are well reflected by Ogilvy on the website, which allows anyone to get access to success stories of startups, or activities by the other communities that integrate the FIWARE ecosystem * This group has started to take advantage of JIRA to monitor activities and progress. It is taking time to do it because of lack of habit (not the same than technical activities), but the work is every time better structured Dissemination * Support to MWC FIWARE Foundation Announcement. Press, Social Media, Website. * Links with TM Forum - Joint demo at MWC. * Support to Coimbra, Pamplona and Serbia FIWARE geo events. * D42.4.a finally delivered. Apps * Now it's possible to use different themes when embedding WireCloud's dashboards * The software of Business API Ecosystem has been shown in the Mobile World Congress 2016 Cloud * Help desk issue are being handled in a timely well * Generally the group is very efficient in following the agile process Data * Most of the items planned for the sprint have been completed. * In general, help desk issues have been managed and resolved on due time. * Good collaboration with Agile Dynamics coordinator for solving errors/questions related to the publication and review of GEs backlogs I2ND * Development closed according to roadmap * Started KIARA promotion within accelerators Security * Overall good process regarding planned features development for reported Sprint. Especially full XACML 3.0 compliance achieved regarding Authorization PDP * Also good progress regarding addressing help desk tickets. WebUI * GE continued implementation as planned (XML3D, POI Data Provider, FiVES) * Documentation of GE of other chapters was found very help full for GE integration (e.g. Context Broker NGSIv2 Spec) Ops: * Very good progress during this sprint * Keystone distribution has been addressed * Maintenance Calendar is in production Academy: * The activities for the new theme are proceeding. Initial steps are slower than expected due to the learning curve of the base theme (code, layout, ... ) Catalogue * ChapterLeaderRole functionality has been finished satisfactorily WHAT TO IMPROVE: BLOCKADE/RISK FEELING GOALS/TARGETS/OBJECTIVES * APPS - Some changes in Wirecloud are not stable enough and they delayed the first software delivery of R5 to the next sprint. * APPS - The MWC demo preparation of Business API Ecosystem and the architecture deliverable have delayed some of the stories * SECURITY - Better handling of additional work unanticipated not to cause postponing of some of the work items planned at sprint level. * OPS - interaction with different tasks sometimes creates bottlenecks. * OPS - still some difficulties with the new monitoring architecture * CATALOGUE - TextUnderDownloadsTab is taking more time/effort than initially planned * ACADEMY - Improve the knowledge of the base theme so to speed up the customization of the FIWARE theme * DISSEMINATION - Need to clarify Campus Party strategy with the EC and TEF - Call scheduled Mar 10th. * WEBUI - Estimation of effort for some implementation tasks * COACHING - A ticket is impeded by the correction of a bug in security chapter (CreatiFI). HELPDESK * DATA - Still some margin for improvement on unnecessary delays for resolution of help desk issues in some cases. LAB * CLOUD - We need to get storlets support in one of the fiware regions TOOLS: * SECURITY - Creation of deliverable in Word document from the wiki, that remains painful and a waste of time due to poor tooling offered. This was already reported unfortunately no action taken by project management to come up with efficient & effective tooling as requested. OTHERS: * COACHING: Bad documentation for some GEs: some links are not working in installation documents (FI-ADOPT, FRACTALS, FInish, SmartAgriFood). * COACHING: Lack of Sanity Tests on global instances of GEs: nobody is aware when a functionality is broken on global instances of GEs; consequently, SMEs get frustrated, as they discover problems but have hard time convincing the related GE owner about the issues (FI-ADOPT, FRACTALS, FInish, SmartAgriFood). TEAM: COMMUNICATION/RESPONSIVENESS/COMMITMENT * Scrum Master - No cooperation in some groups: * Sustainability - no way to held productive meetings - only Training Material (Laura) is following it * IoT - no retrospective provided * Coaches - No cooperation from Coaches Leader (Stefano) * Exploitation - No retrospective provided * DATA: Attendance to the sprint meetings by the different incubated GE owners has been very low, including poor updating of Jira issues. * I2ND - Hard to contact accelerators * I2ND - Accelerator start-ups contacts are not available. * DISSEMINATION - Delay in delivering was not acceptable, even if this task was initially not assigned to OG1. * PRESS - No activity was reflected in current Sprint. A procedure is now in place to reflect in this WorkGroup the Day-to-Day work of the FIWARE Press Office led by OG1. Add activity in backlog from sprint 5.2.3 onwards * COLLABORATION: Activities are happening, but there is delay in the reporting part * COLLABORATION: Lack of connection with some activities happening in EIT Digital * COLLABORATION: Most of the activities fall under the responsibility of individuals (Juanjo, Stefano, Sergio, Nuria...), but it is difficult to work in this task as a team in the same structured way this happens in other areas of the project * COACHING: Official channel for requesting training and webinar to GE owners is not working (the training mailing list seems managed by nobody) (CEED Tech, INCENSe). * COACHING: Further communications about FIWARE VIP Programme: new SMEs and Startups from the new Open Calls are approaching and they should receive a FIWARE score like in the FIWARE Assessment, closed in late 2015; it seems there is no instructions about how to proceed with newcomers (CEED Tech, INCENSe). * COACHING: Lack of response from some GE owners: IDAS's tickets, for example, are open for around two months (FI-ADOPT, FRACTALS, FInish, SmartAgriFood). * COACHING: Lack of coordination for the coaching tasks: no regular telcos are held anymore and the open issues are left without answers in the coaching mailing list. Also, now the coaches were asked to take turns to coordinate the agile coaching meetings, which should in theory be handled by the leading partner instead (FI-ADOPT, FRACTALS, FInish, SmartAgriFood). * COACHING: No feedback provided for the following accelerators: EuropeanPionners, SOUL-FI, FABulous, FICHe, frontierCities.
