From markus.heller at sap.com Tue Oct 1 13:45:03 2013 From: markus.heller at sap.com (Heller, Markus) Date: Tue, 1 Oct 2013 11:45:03 +0000 Subject: [Fiware-apps] Fixing backlog: Tracker, Wiki, Roadmap, Unit Test Plans --> Repair Manual Message-ID: <393554EDCF801348BC53C7813C6CB73B19CAAEE0@DEWDFEMB14A.global.corp.sap> Hi all, Davide has kindly mentioned: "The REPAIR MANUAL tracks also the change of the entry type in the entry name of the backlog items and wiki entries. But this is a T-C2 issue, that I intended being not urnet ones: "For priority, tracker metrics T-C1 and T-C2 can be currently neglected if you want to spare some efforts now, but it will be checked sometimes later (Manuel said he would be able to automate the fixes to these detected issues.)"" Thank you so far, I have not recognized this in my mail from yesterday that we also have addressed T-C2 in the repair manual (my mistake). I do not know for this T-C2 if Manuel can automate this in the future. But I would rather not wait for this - given that we have (relatively) few issues here to handle and the automation plans from Manuel seem to be around for a while now if I am informed right. So I would recommend to just carry out these steps (included in the manual) to get many issues closed in one chunk and get rid of this task. More in general, my overall recommendation would be to close all / as many-as-possible of the listed issues for the GEs simply. The manual is just a sort of help/motivation there and you can work on the issues freely. We from SAP did this now for these issues and hope that we catched all or many of these issues now finally --> this said as a motivation who wants to be second hehe :) Best wishes Markus From: markus.heller at sap.com Sent: Montag, 30. September 2013 18:08 To: 'fiware-apps at lists.fi-ware.eu' Subject: Fixing backlog: Tracker, Wiki, Roadmap, Unit Test Plans --> Repair Manual Hi all, Last week I had my telco with Manuel about the WP3 backlog status, our progress was not too good. I would like to mail the following summary and a new manual to fix these resources. As you might know, I know about the efforts (we in SAP carried it out already...) but I can only ask you to carry this out. Please see that maybe coordinator can evaluate these resources and use them for reporting progress etc. I have added the latest XLS as attachment that I will use as a master here in this mail (w.r.t line numbers, for example). Important: Some of you have repaired these issues already, so the issues reported here may be outdated for your own GEs now, you know best what is open or fixed. I have no newer XLS version currently. As a result of the telco, the main focus for our fixed should now be (only, as negotiated) on (a) "hierarchy / parent & child entries" and (b) consistency Tracker/WIKI/Roadmap/UTP's. We would need to fix the following issues: a) Tracker T-C3: Not all areas, only lines 5-19 (=15 entries here) and lines 29-170 (=142 entries here) b) Tracker T-C4: Not all areas, only lines 106-143 (48 entries there) c) Wiki W-C0: Not all areas, only lines 4-43 (=40 items here) To fix these issues, we have attached a repair manual below that will help fixing the bugs in steps a), b), c) above or just choose your own approach. Notes: - This immediate team focus on the Hierarchy Issues would bring our "Apps Chapter" immediately into a very comfortable Tracker Clean State. Therefore Manuel urged to concentrate on this, I would support this since with a rather moderate effort (compared to some other WP's) we have the chance to close this topic once and for all. My former own opinion was that we might be able to only focus on Hierarchy Issues for the _future_ sprints/releases. I (had to) change this opinion and I considered it moderate effort before in my last mails, compared to other WP efforts (although not a best-one argument I admit...). So now focus would be on both sprints/releases in the _past_ and the future (some of you already did fix this anyway). - For priority, tracker metrics T-C1 and T-C2 can be currently neglected if you want to spare some efforts now, but it will be checked sometimes later (Manuel said he would be able to automate the fixes to these detected issues. - Important: You have to be very cautious with your modifications in WIKI, Tracker, Technical Roadmap, Unit Test Plans because some deliverables are derived/generated from this material. If your links remain in a "bad" after your fixes, your work might NOT END UP in the deliverables !! Deadline: In any case, please fix the issues asap (release 2 closure). The fixes target Release 2 and Release 3. Best wishes Markus --- REPAIR MANUAL to fix the resources (if you detect errors, please mail your corrections to ALL in FI-WARE Apps): (Kudos for Andreas Klein for this manual!) A. WIKI & TRACKER UPDATES 1. For all your Epics: a. In WIKI, replace "EPIC" with "Epic" in the Epic-Identifier (Example old: "FIWARE.EPIC.Apps.Marketplace.RatingAndFeedback" to new "FIWARE.Epic.Apps.Marketplace.RatingAndFeedback" b. In WIKI, move the old WIKI page (because page title is wrong: EPIC --> Epic). Use "MOVE" command of the WIKI (not manually...) c. In Tracker, replace "EPIC" with "Epic" in the Epic-Identifier (similar to 1.a.) d. In Tracker, correct the Link URL to the WIKI page resulting from step 1.b. 2. For all features a. In WIKI, replace "FEATURE" with "Feature" & insert Epic-Name (= the parent epic of this feature) in the Epic-Identifier (Example old: "FIWARE.FEATURE.Apps.Marketplace.RecommendedSimilarUsers" to new "FIWARE.Feature.Apps.Marketplace.RatingAndFeedback.RecommendedSimilarUsers " b. In WIKI, move the old WIKI page (because page title is wrong): (Example old page name: "FIWARE.FEATURE.Apps.Marketplace.RecommendedSimilarUsers" to new page name "FIWARE.Feature.Apps.Marketplace.RatingAndFeedback.RecommendedSimilarUsers " Use "MOVE" command of the WIKI (not manually...) c. In Tracker, replace "FEATURE" with "Feature" & insert Epic-Name (= the parent epic of this feature) in the Feature-Identifier (similar to 2.a.) d. In Tracker, correct the Link URL to the WIKI page resulting from step 2.b. 3. For all stories a. For Stories, we do not have stories in the WIKI, so no WIKI modifications here. b. In Tracker, replace "STORY" with "Story" & insert Feature-Name (= the parent feature of this story) in the Story-Identifier (Example: old "FIWARE.STORY.Apps.Marketplace.RecommendedSimilarUsers" to new "FIWARE.Story.Apps.Marketplace.RatingAndFeedback.RecommendedSimilarUsers) c. In Tracker, make sure that NO LINK (must not be there) exists to the WIKI page resulting from step 2.b. B. Technical Roadmap 4. In Technical Roadmap Page, the links to Epics, features, Stories now do not point to the new WIKI Pages now, they are "broken": For all Epics, Features, Stories: Correct all URLS so that they point to the new WIKI pages. C. Unit Test Plans 5. In Unit Test Plans, the links to Epics, features, Stories now do not point to the new WIKI Pages now, they are "broken": For all Epics, Features, Stories: Correct all URLS so that they point to the new WIKI pages. Please, have a look at WP6, which has shown progress is possible on Structure, they started with 94% and have progressed to 36%" @ALL: Please grab a cup of coffee and fix most of your open items here (not necessarily the issues with only informative character, just leaver them for now), but the important ones where CONSISTENCY is broken or content is wrong/missed and in non-agreed format. Please just fix this so that we can get rid of it and not always get these back. I know of some on-going discussions if something is really needed or has changed since then sometimes and for many items (mostly relevant in other chapters, not ours). But: Most of us in OUR WP3 do not need to do much, I guess all is done in less than 30 minutes for most issue types - and then it would be over. For example clicking consistency between FORGE and WIKI is really good to have fixed, similar applies for the others. If in doubt, ask me. Especially For issue type "flat structure": I advise this compromise as discussed with Manuel: - R3 and higher: Please introduce the necessary hierarchiy in the tetnries that you created for R3 and beyond. In many cases you created only features, but not always the necessary parent elements or vice versa. Please fix this. - Lower than R3: For now, fixing hierarchy for backward release is - for those GEs with MANY entries - also requested as well from you but lesser priority. Of course, in the cases where for YOUR GE there is NOT much to do to get this to zero, please simply fix the stuff so that we can get rid of it and complete these open issues. This is not much of your time and makes life easier for Manuel and us. Please come back to me with any wquestions and please fix this with Deadline: Tuesday EOB Best wishes Markus -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Only one asset is present currently: http://edu.fi-ware.eu/course/index.php for Apps Chapter. You could start to bring your material (e.g. webinars-like material, etc.) onto this education platform to have some info for your GE there. Currently, there is no real deadline set for this in the project since it is your GE owner planning area. (For example, a more recent reason to start with this now: interested people for the currently starting FI-WARE challenges might also have a look there in the future (similar to looking into the Catalog & FI-Lab, where our GE presence is currently delayed wr.t. approvals/installation). Being used in the challenges would start with giving opportunities that the potential users can inform & test the GEs.) If of general intereste, we can discuss this matter more in a next WP3 telco, but I guess, it is mainly clear how to proceed here. Just give me a signal if you need more help here as usual. Nevertheless we have had to postpone it a couple of times because there are still some issues to be solved and it is still work in progress. I think that giving this presentation now is useless and, even worst, could lead to confusion and efforts in the wrong direction. For the time being, the single sign-on process provided by the IdM is to some point stable and has already been implemented by the different portals. The IdM is also capable of returning to the users info about their rights, their membership to organizations, etc. (e.g. we are using these features in the WStore). The work is now focused on the single sign-out process, and on the propagation of authorizations and authorization-related security attributes from the portals to the GEis to the backend services/applications (e.g. they are working on the support for Oauth2 token migration amongst the different GEs, etc.). The IdM is the responsibility of other WP and is not under our control, so I cannot anticipate when it will be ready and stable enough to allow us to prepare the presentation. Nevertheless, we are collaborating with the owners as a kind of guinea pig :-) so we will be aware of the progress and I will be back with news asap. As discussed in private, from now on will will funnel all this info through the WPLs/WPAs, similarly as we have done in the past with my reviews. For everyone, a clarificaton: there are two review tracks that are decoupled, the one by engineering (in principle, more technical) and mine (in principle, more formal). Both need to be properly incorporated to the GE documentation. @GE owners: please avoid answering individually, the replies should be grouped per chapter by the WPLs @WPL/WPAs: please organize internally The original excel file goes attached. De : fiware-testbed-bounces at lists.fi-ware.eu [mailto:fiware-testbed-bounces at lists.fi-ware.eu] De la part de Sandfuchs, Thorsten Envoy? : lundi 14 octobre 2013 10:25 ? : fiware-testbed at lists.fi-ware.eu Cc : fiware-wpl at lists.fi-ware.eu; fiware-wpa at lists.fi-ware.eu Objet : [Fiware-testbed] Minutes and action points on validation deliverable submission (10.5.2b) Dear colleagues, on Friday there was a testbed-internal session which discussed how to submit D.10.5.2b (the resubmission of the validation deliverable). We have a very tight schedule to submit this deliverable with all contributions in time. For this minutes I?m taking WPL/WPA on the CC list in order to let everybody know the status. Thorsten presented the approach and explained along the lines of the presentation what content should needs to be produced. - Mainly the testbed-team will in a neutral way write what we ?see?, judged by the numbers ? things like: ?SMARTAGRIFOOD rated the integration badly in the case of the XXX chapter?.? We could try to come up with first assumptions on why these ratings did take place and dig deeper ? but overall WPL/WPA need to do the _content_ driven analysis. ?The reason for this was ?? or ?We will take this serious and already implemented the following actions ?? Background are the graphs and tables prepared by Thorsten in the presentation and pivot-tables of the XLS. - Additionally and for the deliverable the ?scenario based? questionnairs in DOC format need to be analyzed and ?highs? and ?lows? need to be extracted for the chapters. - Stefano wanted everybody to analyze the bare-metal XLS and try to come up with ?new interesting? things somebody sees in the day. This task needs to be worked on in parallel within the week of 14.10. ? 18.10. ? everybody to report relevant findings on the 22.10. Rough time plan: KW42 (14.-18.10): main content work, Testbed-team writing what we ?see?, judged by the numbers KW43 (21.-25.10): finalizing text & hand-over to WPL/WPA team - 22th of October: deadline for the content work ? goal: on 23th October WPL/WPA should be able to start their work with the content analysis (you will have ~3 business days) KW44 (28.-30.10): finalizing the DOC deliverable and starting a review cycle - Please volunteer if you want to be a reviewer for this deliverable KW44 (31.10): planned submission to EC Please ? if possible ? directly update the wiki : https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/testbed/index.php/D.10.5.2b.Report_on_Validation_process_including_Validation_with_Use_Case_projects_front_page#Structure_of_this_Document or the underlying pages. If unsure, just write the text in any other format and provide it ASAP to Thorsten so he can integrated it to the wiki. Find attached the updated presentation & the bare-metal data in XLS format. This was actually a recommendation given in the last review report. This was a topic that I have encouraged you to discuss with the teams in your respective chapters. During our meetings, it was also agreed that extension of the project would mean a request to move the dates of those deliverables linked to release of software and accompanying documentation so that they change to be month 36 instead of 33. Those deliverables linked to deployment of software on the FI-PPP Testbed and FI-LAB which were planned for month 36 would also be delayed until month 40. We didn't discuss this but I guess we would agree that some of the final reports to be produced should also be delayed from month 36 until month 40. So far, the only feedback I have got is that partners would be ok for the proposed extension, provided the mentioned changes in deliverable dates are incorporated. With all these considerations in mind, I have produced the attached updated version of the Deliverable List. Changes are highlighted so that you can easily track them. Of course, your feedback is welcome. Unless I hear about any objection from your side before this Friday EOB, I will submit an official response to the EC announcing our agreement to extend the project duration another 4 months (i.e., until end of August 2014), provided the changes we propose in the deliverable dates are accepted. I will use the attached table as basis although I'm happy to incorporate some additional changes you may consider necessary. For this topics, you have so far received some mails from Juanjo with some proposals what might be done in the extension period and deliverable deadline movement ideas. Juanjo intends to send a message to Arian soon with a consortium standpoint declaration, so time runs out for opinion building now. I currently do not have more info than you have yourself, I am sorry, the process is ongoing currently. Nevertheless I was asked by Juanjo if I have an overview for WP3 partner opinions for/against FI-WARE Extension in WP3. So I ask for your preliminary opinion here. I have set a mail poll for this. I am aware that these 3 categories below are a bit harsh but I will allow me to get an overview so far. You can change your opinion later once more details get known of once planning has gone further w.r.t. FI-WARE extension topic. Based on this first poll, some more detail planning / decision making (WP3) might be needed, of course. I have refrained from starting a real "doodle" on this since e-mail might be better if you want to add some comments to me... We have a very tight schedule to submit this deliverable with all contributions in time. For this minutes I'm taking WPL/WPA on the CC list in order to let everybody know the status. Thorsten presented the approach and explained along the lines of the presentation what content should needs to be produced. - Mainly the testbed-team will in a neutral way write what we "see", judged by the numbers - things like: "SMARTAGRIFOOD rated the integration badly in the case of the XXX chapter...." We could try to come up with first assumptions on why these ratings did take place and dig deeper - but overall WPL/WPA need to do the _content_ driven analysis. "The reason for this was ..." or "We will take this serious and already implemented the following actions ..." Background are the graphs and tables prepared by Thorsten in the presentation and pivot-tables of the XLS. - Additionally and for the deliverable the "scenario based" questionnairs in DOC format need to be analyzed and "highs" and "lows" need to be extracted for the chapters. - Stefano wanted everybody to analyze the bare-metal XLS and try to come up with "new interesting" things somebody sees in the day. This task needs to be worked on in parallel within the week of 14.10. - 18.10. - everybody to report relevant findings on the 22.10. Please note: This poll is solely restricted to your further activities in WP3 (not overall FI-WARE) in a possible extension time. Deadline: TODAY EOB. I would like to receive your voting today as a state of the union poll of your current / preliminary opinion in WP3 chapter. -- POLL for all WP3 Partners: TID, SAP, THALES, TI, DT, EAB, ATOS, E-IIS (aka ENG), UPM, UDE, iMinds @Each Partner: Please reply this e-mail to me (and CC to all if you like) with one of the following words "YES", NO", "MAYBE": - "YES" - Yes, you prefer extension and will extend your activities in the extension period in WP3 (once planned in detail). - "NO" - No, do not prefer extension and would not extend your activities in the extension period in WP3. - "MAYBE" - No, you do not prefer extension BUT if extension comes then you will also extend your activities in WP3 likewise. We have updated the template due to the following remark of the Commission: [cid:image001.png at 01CEBE9E.1EC99280] So, It is very important that the report shows the contribution of each involved partner at task level. We kindly ask you to follow the template where the first section is about the WP as a team, and each task is evaluated by partner. I'm going to send in a particularized e-mail with the template of your WP to you. Please ask to each involved partner their information. As soon as I have the consumption of PM of each partner, I'll send it to you. Note: xxx= Missing information in the document. Deadline: November 30th 2013. It is probably that we'll need a new iteration after this deadline with the effort of each partner, where we'll need you to evaluate each declaration of effort. Thank you in advance.
