Dear all WP3 partners,

wr.t. a possible FI-WARE extension, I currently have asked the coordinator for more information on the planned extension. For this topics, you have so far  received some mails from Juanjo with some proposals what might be done in the extension period and deliverable deadline movement ideas.  Juanjo intends to send a message to Arian soon with a consortium standpoint declaration, so time runs out for opinion building now. I currently do not have more info than you have yourself, I am sorry, the process is ongoing currently.

Nevertheless I was asked by Juanjo if I have an overview for WP3 partner opinions for/against FI-WARE Extension in WP3. So I ask for your preliminary opinion here. I have set a mail poll for this. I am aware that these 3 categories below are a bit harsh but I will allow me to get an overview so far. You can change your opinion later once more details get known of once planning has gone further w.r.t. FI-WARE extension topic. Based on this first poll, some more detail planning / decision  making (WP3) might be needed, of course. I have refrained from starting a real "doodle" on this since e-mail might be better if you want to add some comments to me...

Please note: This poll is solely restricted to your further activities in WP3 (not overall FI-WARE) in a possible extension time.

Deadline: TODAY EOB. I would like to receive your voting today as a state of the union poll of your current / preliminary opinion in WP3 chapter.

-          "YES"                    - Yes, you prefer extension and will extend your activities in the extension period in WP3 (once planned in detail).

-          "NO"                    - No, do not prefer extension and would not extend your activities in the extension period in WP3.

-          "MAYBE"            - No, you do not prefer extension BUT if extension comes then you will also extend your activities in WP3 likewise.

I will consolidate the poll results and send them around today EOB when I receive all votes...

Hi all,

  As we have discussed a couple of times, the EC has suggested an extension of the FI-WARE project duration for at least 4 additional months.   This was actually a recommendation given in the last review report.

  This was a topic that I have encouraged you to discuss with the teams in your respective chapters.

  During our meetings, it was also agreed that extension of the project would mean a request to move the dates of those deliverables linked to release of software and accompanying documentation so that they change to be month 36 instead of 33.   Those deliverables linked to deployment of software on the FI-PPP Testbed and FI-LAB which were planned for month 36 would also be delayed until month 40.   We didn't discuss this but I guess we would agree that some of the final reports to be produced should also be delayed from month 36 until month 40.

  So far, the only feedback I have got is that partners would be ok for the proposed extension, provided the mentioned changes in deliverable dates are incorporated.

  With all these considerations in mind, I have produced the attached updated version of the Deliverable List.   Changes are highlighted so that you can easily track them.   Of course, your feedback is welcome.

  Unless I hear about any objection from your side before this Friday EOB, I will submit an official  response to the EC announcing our agreement to extend the project duration another 4 months (i.e., until end of August 2014), provided the changes we propose in the deliverable dates are accepted.    I will use the attached table as basis although I'm happy to incorporate some additional changes you may consider necessary.
