[Fiware-apps] Fi-WARE: WP3 - GE installation testing plan

Hi Stefano,

I try to explain how I see it:
As input, you wrote in your first mail on this:

please note that, as you can easily guess from point 1 above, there are two different kind of installations to be tested:
1. manual deplyoment, which involves all oss released geis
2. recipes supported deployment in the fi-ware testbed. this case the person making the test must create a vm, which should be removed immediately after the installation and test is completed (due to the obvious resource cosumption)

and separately your fill-in help that I forwarded indirectly to the APPS team as well:

- “Testing applies?”: Example= ?? (no clue… a Name, a YES/NO, a report of the testing…?)
"YES" if the gei is oss, so intsllation and deployment test can be made, otherwise "NO". this field should be filled by the wpl
- “testing on FI-LAB”: Example= ?? (no clue… a Name, a YES/NO, a report of the testing…?)
"YES" if the gei, either oss or not, is equipped with recipes for installation in fi-lab, otherwise "NO". this field should be filled by the wpl

My assumption why no “testing-on-FILAB” was answered with “yes” is:

· What I can guess is that your stated view that you want to separate between “1. manual deployment” and “2. Recipes supported deployment” does not meet directly – as I only know recognize – with the perspective what is e.g. in Henar’s prozess and what we did so far: we always did and do understand naturally, that we can have “manual configuration “ but this happening with “creating a VM, then do the manual steps manually and try to succeed in FI-Lab”.

Example: We SAP GEs in WP3 are fully in FI-Lab but only with “manual configuration” without recipes which is of course possible. A tester for the test now would be given nothing but the GE catalog link and the link to manuals and then he is alone…he tries to complete installation on fi-lab without help…

· So most of the partners may have chosen this possibility also (combination YES/NO in your two attributes) as they were accustomed much to it and they opted to have the “manual configuration” trial with a tester to see if he can install the GE within FI-Lab (e.g. by creating a VM ,…..manually perform installation steps,….). I do not know why they do not want to test with recipes, but we thought we had free choice so I just collected the decisions from the GE owners in Apps about this.

· So your two columns would then by accident ask differently than what we typically did and thought…because in our perspective we can have configuration tests to happen on filab manually following the manuals.

So far with my 5 cents how this might occur. Was I able to explain it to you?

--> Nevertheless, shall we make a poll in the APPS team and ask the ones who have recipes to have the tests carried out with recipes? Not all have recipes, but some do…

Best
Markus

dear markus,

while enetering the data you provided in the table i noticed all the geis will not tested in fi-lab. any specific reason for that?
i know several of them have the recipe to perform the test.

ciao,
stefano

Dear Stefano,

here I attach our entries for the table from APPS. This is our plan as of today.

Sadly I do not have a google docs account, so I cannot enter it there, but I hope you could please copy it to the google docs?

As requested, where commitments were not possible, WPL has made tester assignments which are pending confirmation in the next week.

- Partners who still need to commit to test a GE: TI, THALES, IMINDS.

- Partners who have committed to test a GE: ATOS, UPM, SAP, TID

- Partners not active and will not test: DT, EAB

Best wishes
Markus
