Would help to check that everything is going Ok. As you probably remember, we agreed to have regular confcalls (weekly, for the time being) on Friday mornings at 09:30. I would like to suggest that we keep our first one tomorrow starting at 09:00am Goal of the confcall should be to agree on the draft Table of Contents (ToC) for our contribution to the FI-WARE High-level Description deliverable due in month 2. It should be a short confcall, just agree on the ToC and who is responsible for what. I remind you that a first set of guidelines was already included in the final wrapup slides I presented on Friday during the kick-off meeting. As agreed and for the time being, IBM would circulate the dial-in details. I'll take care of setting up a Webex session. I will circulate a tentative ToC during today. Anyway, please find it enclosed for your convenience 1. Overview * Should include some short of overall Functional Architecture picture * Expected length: 3-4 pages 2. Generic Enabler descriptions * Focus on technical description without binding to any specific asset (although it can certailnly be inspired on assets that are clearly considered as baseline) * Should cover all the ingredients of the "product vision" in Agile Sprint 0: * Who is going to "buy" the product? Who is the target user? * Which user needs will the product address? * Which product attributes are critical to satisfy the needs selected, and therefore for the success of the product? * How does the product compare against existing products, both from competitors and the same company? What are the product's unique selling points? * Expected length (per Generic Enablers): 3-5 pages 3. Section on "Question Marks" * Formulates what topics are still under discussion * Expected length for the whole section: 3-5 pages 4. Detailed list of terms and definitions TID is willing to act as main editor of sections 1, 3 and 4. We would produce first drafts of these sections for review of the rest of the partners. We should concentrate on agreeing the subsections within section 2. Target subsections and editors in a very first approach (not necessarely in this order): * Off-line analysis-processing/mining platform (TID) * Intelligent Services Plug-ins (TID) * Real-time stream processing based on CPE (IBM) * Real-time stream processing based on map-reduce (TID) * Real-time stream processing by Siemens ? * Data/Context Pub/Sub Broker (TI) - note: Orange have brought also some asset here and TID wish to incorporate some requirements * Semantic Web annotation tools (ATOS) * Searching/Query-access (???) * Multimedia analysis to gather multimedia meta-data (Siemens) Goal of our confcall is to definitively agree on the ToC and the assignment of editing tasks. Also the setup of Task Forces to deal with a) areas where there are overlapping assets, b) "question marks" (this include those related to security aspects) Best regards, -- Juanjo ________________________________ Este mensaje se dirige exclusivamente a su destinatario. If the issue gets no solved on time for first release of deliverable at least would be covered in section about "Question Marks" Action: setup confcall to start discusion on Location Enabler ATOS misses: * Real-time stream processing of unstructured data (ATOS) - added * Management tools - probably have to go to the "question marks" * Description of RFD repository - this should be covered in subsection Semantic Web annotation tools (ATOS) Action: ALL to provide better names for subsections in section 2 Action: Rename box about Query/Search Engine in slide 4 of the target arch and name it as "Searching/Query access" Action: Setup confcall to address the Searching/Query access involving Telecom Italia, Siemens and TID prior assigning edition role to description of this GE. Juanjo will setup a doodle on the matter. Siemens and Telecom Italia to provide their input on vision about the Searching/Query access enabler prior to this confcall. Action: TID to provide requirements in the Pub/Sub Broker Action: TID, Telecom Italia and Orange to have a confcall on Pub/Sub Broker. We'll review Orange's asset, Telecom Italia's asset and TID requirements To be pragmatic and be able to deliver a description on time, Telecom Italia leads the edition of the Pub/Sub Broker Section. The description should incorporate features by TID and Orange and the two of them will participate as reviewers of this section. Remember that description should be high-leve for deliverable in month 2, not tied to any specific asset. Action: The editor of each subsection in section 2, have to consider and hightlight whatever aspect related to Security is relevant for the GE description Action: Juanjo to involve someone representing the Security WP in the team (first adding him/her to our mailing list) Action: Juanjo will distribute a template for writing the sections It was agreed that writing style should be that of a white-paper or product vision document. No requirements-list like. Registering in the FI-WARE project is quite easy. We will ask you to perform the following steps (*important note*: this is an update of the instructions I sent a couple of days ago): 1. Registration as users of FusionForge This is pretty simple. You just have to go to: http://forge.fi-ware.eu/ then click on "New Account" in the upper right corner It should drive you to a screen where you will assign yourself a nickname. It should be valid UNIX login name, so that "." are not allowed. I would suggest using "_" instead. You have to fill a registration form and after doing so, click "Register". Once we do this, you have to check your email (you should provide your email address in the registration form) and then complete registration. WPLs are entitled to ask people working in their WPs to perform this step as soon as possible. Please note that maybe not all people are registered in fiware at lists.fi-ware.eu so you should forward this message also to your lists with any other specific instruction you may want to add. Note that registering in FusionForge is a step necessary to perform the following steps and finally be able to get access to private documents uploaded in FusionForge. 2. Give Admin privileges to WPLs All WPs have a "project" in Fussion Forge. You can already see them listed at: http://forge.fi-ware.eu/ on the right bottom corner under section "Recently Registered Projects" Once WPLs have registered them as users in the Forge, they should send me an email informing about this. Then I will register them as Admin users in the project corresponding to the WP they lead as well as in FI-WARE. Pascal Bisson (Security WP), Torsten Leidig (Apps/Services Ecosystem WP), Alex Glikson (Cloud Hosting WP), myself (Data/Context Management WP), Hans Joachim Einsiedler and Pierangelo Garino (I2ND WP) have already registered and have been assigned Admin privileges both in FI-WARE and their WP. Still missing: IoT Services Enablement WP, Exploitation WP and the Developers Community Tools WP. 3. Give access to partners in each of the WPLs Once WPLs get admin privileges, they should take care of registering members of their WP team in their projects as well as the FI-WARE project @ FusionForge. Admins at TID will also help to add them to FI-WARE. There are two ways a given person already registered in FusionForge can join a project as member: * Option 1: * Tell this to your WPL and me by email. Your WPL (or someone from TID for the FI-WARE project) has to go to the space assigned to the project. You can see all available projects at: * http://forge.fi-ware.eu/softwaremap/full_list.php * After navigating to the project he/she manages, the WPL should click on the Admin Tab and then click on the "Users" menu option (right below the Admin Tab) and finally select "Add Users from List". Then he/she just needs to look for the user he wants to register in the project and mark the "Add User" option (you'll see it on the right side). Once he has marked all users he/she wants to add, just needs to click on the "Finish" button * This bring him/her to a screen where he can decide on the role assigned to each selected user (we recommend you to assign a "Senior Developer" rol) and finally click on "Add all" * Option 2: * The partner who wants to join a given project goes to the space linked to that project by clicking on the corresponding URL at: * http://forge.fi-ware.eu/softwaremap/full_list.php * Then the partner goes to the box at the right hand of the screen where the names of Admins and developers of the project are listed and clicks on the "Request to join" link there * The WPL and TID will check requests to join and will approve them when appropriate. Note that WPLs have to decide what privileges you assign users in their corresponding projects. They may add more Admins or assign it that of a Senior Developer or Doc Writer, I would suggest Senior Developer. 4. Sharing documents Once you perform the steps above, it should be quite easy to share documents. I will send an email giving a brief tutorial on this later this evening. ________________________________ Este mensaje se dirige exclusivamente a su destinatario. What happens to you is because: * you have not requested to join the FI-WARE project (you should request joining FI-WARE and the project linked to WPs you are involved in) OR * you have not send an email to your WPL asking him/her to register you in the FI-WARE project (and the project linked to the WP he/she leads) This was explained in my previous message. Probably the easiest method would be the first one. You just need to get access to the project page (through http://forge.fi-ware.eu/softwaremap/full_list.php) and then click on the "Request to join" link you will find on the right side of your screen: [cid:part1.00070202.05070106 at tid.es] Once you request to join, either one of the WPLs or some Admin from TID will grant you access (also explained in my previous mail). Note for the Admins: you should grant access but assigning a "Senior Developer" role. Note that EVERYONE in the world might register in our FusionForge instance (that's the way it works). This ease administration and also enables third parties to approach us. However, only FusionForge users that are registered in a project can access documents labeled as "private" to that project. In the case of the referred documents, we decided to label them as private to the project. WP teams are entitled to submit their contributions under the contrib document group which belons to the group we have created for this deliverable. Please follow this templates and provided tips. This is crucial to deliver an harmonized document which is not just a collection of separate contributions. WP teams are entitled to submit their contributions under the contrib document group which belons to the group we have created for this deliverable. As already announced a couple of days ago, all teams are entitled to contribute final versions of their chapters by June 20th EOB. A first draft of is expected for interim review (bilateral meetings between the Chief Architect, that is myself, and co-chief, Thomas Bohnert) by end of May. Don't hesitate to ask any question you may have. While developing this template, we have found a number of things to be fixed in the previously submitted template. Therefore, we have updated the generic template for documentation and make it available at: http://forge.fi-ware.eu/docman/view.php/7/50/FI-WARE+Public+Document+template+11-05-19+v1.0.doc Therefore, we kindly ask you to update the template if you had downloaded it previously. Therefore, I would suggest to postpone it to some time monday-tuesday-wednesday (at the latest) next week. I'll setup a doodle for this tonight. I will also take care of the following actions pending on me also tonight (all of them had to be scheduled for next week anyway since I was in Budapest this week): * Action: Setup confcall to address the Searching/Query access involving Telecom Italia, Siemens and TID prior assigning edition role to description of this GE. Juanjo will setup a doodle on the matter. Siemens and Telecom Italia to provide their input on vision about the Searching/Query access enabler prior to this confcall. * Action: TID, Telecom Italia and Orange to have a confcall on Pub/Sub Broker. We'll review Orange's asset, Telecom Italia's asset and TID requirements * Action: setup confcall to start discusion on Location Enabler I will also distribute tonight a refined version of the figure in our high-level architecture, taking into account the comments raised in our previous meetings. I hope you all have received the template I have distributed to all WPs regarding the deliverable. You should start writing a first draft of some sections according to what we agreed during our last confcall: * Off-line analysis-processing/mining platform (TID) * Intelligent Services Plug-ins (TID) * Real-time stream processing based on CPE (IBM) * Real-time stream processing based on map-reduce (TID) * Preprocessing of meta-data during/after gathering (Siemens) * Preprocessing of unstructured data during/after gathering (ATOS) * Data/Context Pub/Sub Broker (TI) - note: Orange have brought also some asset here and TID wish to incorporate some requirements * Semantic Web annotation tools (ATOS) * Searching/Query-access (???) * Multimedia analysis to gather multimedia meta-data (Siemens) I remind all editors of the above sub-sections they should send a better title for them. This was an action on ALL that is still pending. I have already added a number of representatives from the Security WP to our mailing list (this was one of the actions from our previous confcall) ... so that be aware they might be listening/reading what we say :-) They are: * Pedro Soria-Rodriguez (pedro.soria at atosresearch.eu) * Pascal Bisson (Pascal.bisson at thalesgroup.com) * Daniel Gidoin (daniel.gidoin at thalesgroup.com) Best regards, -- Juanjo ________________________________ Este mensaje se dirige exclusivamente a su destinatario. Yes. You can update the file while keeping the same URL. But this would work provided you don't change the name of the file because this is indeed taken as part of the generated URL. Otherwise they are considered different files (not an updated version of the file) To upload an updated version of the file you simply need to click on the Admin menu option in the Docs tab: [cid:part1.03050200.07020603 at tid.es] Then find the document you want to update ... [cid:part2.03050501.01010504 at tid.es] and click on it. It should drive you to a form where you can update the file linked to a document (as well as its decription, access status, etc.): [cid:part3.02030305.06050303 at tid.es] Hope it helps. Keep in mind that the file has to be named the same way ... otherwise the system will update the file, but the old URL would not work. I guess we should use release/version numbers in the description. However some of the definitions and concepts are relevant for you as well, because CEP, massive storage or Context mngmt. overlaps with the IoT World in some way, that's why I point directly to you in this mail as partners involved in those areas within WP6. First, from WP5 we would like to achieve a common agreement with you about the concept of a 'Event', so please check the current definition we have and modify it if needed: "Event. An event can be defined as an activity that happens/occurs or the digital representation of this activity in a an IoT backend instance, or more generally, in a FI-WARE instance. The second definition could be called ?event object?, but it can be argued that the context will always identify which meaning of the term is used. There is one-to-many relationship between the two meanings: the same activity can be represented by more than one event object; where each event object can capture different attributes of the activity. In many event processing systems the events are immutable, in such systems modifications of an event must be achieved by creating a new event. Events may be simple and complex. A simple event is an event that is not an abstraction or composition of other events. An example of a simple event is that ?smart meter X got broken?. A complex event is an event that is an abstraction of other events called its members. For example a stock market crash or a cellular network blackout is an abstraction denoting many thousand of member events. In many cases a complex event references the set of its members, the implication being that the event contains a reference. For example, the cellular network blackout may be caused by a power failure of the air conditioning in the operator?s data center. In other cases such a reference may not exist. For example, usually there is no accepted agreement as to which events are members of a stock market crash complex event." Nevertheless the idea is that WP5 will mainly use the CEP or Publish/Subscribe/Notify mechanisms provided by WP6. And second, regarding the data storage, in the WP5 we are not going to locally store the historic data collected from the IoT World. We have to discuss this important issue in the future meetings, but I understand the basic idea we agreed in the past between both WPS, was that WP6 collects and stores all those huge amount of information received from IoT and WP5 will only store locally the gathered information in the case that information would not be relevant for the rest of the scope of the WP5, I mean the usage areas and the rest of the Fiware WPs. However, when we discuss with usage areas we should use simple terms, avoid to have a too elaborated terminology and on the other hand we should grasp what is the IoT specificity of it, which currently - I must confess - is not present yet in the definition. The definition of the event in EPTS: "An object that represents, encodes, or records an event, generally for the purpose of computer processing" is not the best one to be used as an explanation for the usage areas, I think. On the other hand the EPTS is very good in the sense that it has a clear, short definition of individual terms and then a set of examples. I will try to follow the same approach with the definition. A manual correction is overwritten by a document update. - ItemLevel1 is 10 pt, while ItemLevel2 (and the rest of the "Normal" text) is 11 pt. This is strange somehow. We propose to also have ItemLevel1 in 11 pt. The template is ".doc" while the current document of WP6 is ".docx". ".doc" is probably the better choice as the least common denominator. Yes. You can update the file while keeping the same URL. But this would work provided you don't change the name of the file because this is indeed taken as part of the generated URL. Otherwise they are considered different files (not an updated version of the file) To upload an updated version of the file you simply need to click on the Admin menu option in the Docs tab: [cid:image001.png at 01CC1BE0.82FDB0F0] Then find the document you want to update ... [cid:image002.png at 01CC1BE0.82FDB0F0] and click on it. It should drive you to a form where you can update the file linked to a document (as well as its decription, access status, etc.): [cid:image003.png at 01CC1BE0.82FDB0F0] Hope it helps. Keep in mind that the file has to be named the same way ... otherwise the system will update the file, but the old URL would not work. Best Regards, Boris From: fiware-data-bounces at lists.fi-ware.eu [mailto:fiware-data-bounces at lists.fi-ware.eu] On Behalf Of Juanjo Hierro Sent: Wednesday, May 25, 2011 1:27 PM To: fiware-data at lists.fi-ware.eu Cc: fiware at lists.fi-ware.eu Subject: [Fiware-data] Updating version of a file while keeping the previous URL Hi, I'm answering Guy's question copying the general FI-WARE list because the answer may be useful for other people. Yes. You can update the file while keeping the same URL. But this would work provided you don't change the name of the file because this is indeed taken as part of the generated URL. Otherwise they are considered different files (not an updated version of the file) To upload an updated version of the file you simply need to click on the Admin menu option in the Docs tab: Then find the document you want to update ... and click on it. It should drive you to a form where you can update the file linked to a document (as well as its decription, access status, etc.): Hope it helps. Keep in mind that the file has to be named the same way ... otherwise the system will update the file, but the old URL would not work. I guess we should use release/version numbers in the description. If this is the case, we "only" would need to specify interfaces to the input and output for these kinds of components (inside the GE) in order to be interoperable. Please check with your colleagues if this is the common understanding. Kind regards Peter PS: Maybe we can clarify this question by email, since I am traveling a lot next week (except Wednesday morning; however, there is another WP6 meeting scheduled). To Telecom Italia: please note that we agreed on the timeslots for celebrating the pending confcalls on Publish/Subscribe Broker as well as on Search/Quering Access (point 1 in the agenda). We beared in mind the timeslots of availability you provided to me in a separate mail. The only one for which we have yet to agree is the one on the Localization GE. Unfortunately, Thales didn't attend the confcall. Best regards, -- Juanjo Attendees: TID: Juanjo IBM: Guy Telecom Italia: ATOS: Tomas and Chema Orange: Fano Ramparany Siemens: Andreas, Thomas, Peter Thales: UPM: Agenda: 1. Review of actions from previous call 2. Status of contributions to deliverable (High-level Description) 3. Planning of next steps 1. Review of actions from previous call + confcall on Publish/Subscribe: Tuesday May 31, 11:30 - 13:00 + confcall Query/Siemens: Wednesday June 1, 09:30 - 11:00 + confcall on Localization GE: still ACTION pending Rest of actions had been done or had to do with contributions (therefore reviewed in next point of the agenda) 2. Status of contributions Action: The editor of each subsection in section 2, have to consider and hightlight whatever aspect related to Security is relevant for the GE description * Off-line Big Data analysis-processing/mining platform (TID) * Big Data stream processing based on map-reduce (TID) These two indeed match to a single GE. I have retitled the second aspect. Description was uploaded to the server ACTION: IBM and Telefonica to hold a confcall on monday May 31 starting 15:30 to reach full alignment on architecture of the processing part and combination/integration of TID's and IBM's assets. * Intelligent Services Plug-ins (TID) Uploaded to the docs server * Real-time stream processing based on CPE (IBM) Uploaded to the docs server * Preprocessing of meta-data during/after gathering (Siemens) Uploaded to the docs server * Preprocessing of unstructured data during/after gathering (ATOS) Uploaded to the docs server - very preliminary * Data/Context Pub/Sub Broker (TI) - note: Orange have brought also some asset here and TID wish to incorporate some requirements uploaded to the docs server * Semantic Web annotation tools (ATOS) uploaded to the docs server - very preliminary * Searching/Query-access (???) there is something contributed by Siemens. Will be considered input for the confcall on wednesday. * Multimedia analysis to gather multimedia meta-data (Siemens) uploaded to the docs server 3. Planning of next steps Agreed ACTION-PLAN: 1. Juanjo to consolidate all inputs in a single document to be distributed on monday: - revised template - concrete recomendations on the different sections 2. Editors of the different GE description sections will work from the single document distributed by Juanjo from monday till Thursday EOB: - trying to implement the recomendations - delivering a contribution with only the specific section they have edited (different files per section, not per company) - identify security issues to be address together with Security WP (Juanjo will come with a recommendation on how to provide this input) 3. Partners are welcome to perform an overall review the document distributed by Juanjo and upload a commented version (just comments using the tools for comments on MS Word) by Wednesday EOB. Editors of the different GE sections are then invited to check comments from other partners 4. On next confcall, we should plan on: - how to carry out peer review of existing section in the following week - how to fill rest of sections (particularly, how to generate the section on definitions) ________________________________ Este mensaje se dirige exclusivamente a su destinatario. Registering in a given project is necessary to get access to private documents published by that project. 1. 2. Requesting to join a particular project in FusionForge. You just need to get access to the project page (navigate to it from http://forge.fi-ware.eu/softwaremap/full_list.php) and then click on the "Request to join" link you will find on the right side of your screen: [cid:part1.06020406.04090300 at tid.es] Once you issue a request to join, either a WPLs or some Admin from TID will grant you access. You should be granted access in a "Senior Developer" role. ________________________________ Este mensaje se dirige exclusivamente a su destinatario. TI has suggested Wednesday 14:00 - 16:00 CET and I mentioned it was OK to me. I will setup a webex session for all these three sessions. Regarding audio facilities, we may try the VoIP facilities of the webex bridge. Otherwise, we can use powownow which supports local dial-in phone numbers. I'll circulate the powownow dial-in details on monday if nobody else suggest another alternative.
