FYI. With this last email, I believe you have enough context as to decide whether you believe you should join the fiware-ngsi mailing list or not.

  Cheers,

Dear members of this new NGSI list,

I launch the first topic to discuss here attaching you a couple of slides reflecting how within the 'IoT-T5.2-Resource management' we have come up with a draft Architecture for the Things Management Layer which is explained in the slides.

I would like to rely on these slides to launch the discussion among partners in this list as well as the WPL and WPA, involving some of the relevant partners from the Data/Context Management Chapter which may bring some pieces of the overall picture.

This Reference Architecture should help to show you the focus of our work within WP5 regarding development of the layer in the overall architecture coping with management of the relationship between (virtual) Things and IoT Resources (linked to sensors or actuators) and handling of events captured by IoT resources and transformed into context elements linked to Things.

As you see, part of the APIs exposed to Applications would be based on OMA NGSI-9/10.

The slides are accompanied by some notes (ppt notes) describing how the different pieces interact.

thanks for your comments,

br,
RHer at s.

Hi all,

As mentioned during the follow-up IoT confcall, we have setup a mailing list that will be focused on discussion about NGSI-based interfaces in FI-WARE.

While we all agree that the final interfaces supported in FI-WARE may differ from the current OMA NGSI specs for good reasons, we all agree that FI-WARE should support only one variant of the specs, avoiding several, uncompatible, variants. We definitively have to expose a single set of APIs to applications. We won't be able to sell anything else.

Thus, goal of this list is to come up with an agreement on what are going to be the specs of the NGSI-based interfaces supported in FI-WARE. One of the standardization efforts in FI-WARE would consist in going to OMA and push for fast-track adoption of anything that is different in these NGSI-based interfaces from the current standard.

People displayed in the screenshot below are already members of this mailing list and should have received this email. Thierry and Lorant, from the IoT chapter, and Carlos from the Data/Context Management chapter, have been registered as administrators of the list besides me so that they can add new members directly. Please don't hesitate to invite/add anyone you believe should be involved in the discussion.

   Cheers,

-- Juanjo
