Dear FI-WARE / I2ND / NetIC colleagues, please find enclosed some preliminary input from NSN side in order to support delineation of the NetIC functional requirements and gaps. The final slide of the attached presentation can be used as indication for NSN's interest to contribute. Note that this input comprises requirements / gaps which are biased towards provision of intelligent connectivity in virtualized transport networks, any other NetIC requirements should be provided by other stakeholders. ----8<-------------------------------------------------- Which results from external projects we want to exploit for FiWare WP7? - collect all external projects whose results you intend to exploit for FiWare 1) Standford Clean Slate program / Open Networking Foundation (ONF) standardization 2) Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standardisation - describe which distinct results you want to exploit 1) OpenFlow concept/protocol 2) User-Network Interface (UNI) defined for Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching (GMPLS) - RFC 4208 - how these results are expected to be used in I2ND 1) use and extension of OpenFlow for remote configuration of non-transport and transport topology between Infrastructure Providers and Virtual Network Providers on the one hand, and between Virtual Network Providers and Virtual Network Operators on the other (terminology from FP7 4WARD project) 2) use and extension of GMPLS UNI for requesting virtual links and networks between Virtual Network Providers and Virtual Network Operators (terminology from FP7 4WARD project) We have to describe in more detail what the main functional blocks in the Generic Enablers of each tasks of D.2.2.a will perform: - what are their interfaces, - which communication might run via those interfaces - identify the gaps (these will be used to define developments later, or for the open calls) - which of the functional blocks listed in D.2.2.a you intend to work on and what type of contribution you plan --> This is detailed in the attached presentation <<NSN preliminary I2ND NetIC GE interface specs and functional gaps.pptx>> ----8<-------------------------------------------------- -- Mit freundlichen Grüssen / Best regards, Dr. Thomas Michaelis Senior Research Engineer NSN Research St.-Martin-Str. 76, 81541 Munich, Germany +49 (0)89 5159-39402 (fon) +49 (0)89 5159-44-39402 (fax) thomas.michaelis at nsn.com http://www.nokiasiemensnetworks.com/global/ <<Picture (Device Independent Bitmap)>> Widerstand zwecklos, wenn < 1 Ohm :) Nokia Siemens Networks GmbH & Co.
