Dear Thomas, the expected resubmission is required per partner. However, each company is requested to provide in that document the concrete plans for each GE describing the business side for every single Gei they develop, i.e. terms and conditions beyond the PPP &sustainability once FI-WARE and the PPP are finished. This is taken from the report: ============ Recommendation 12 (Page 12- FI WARE Review 5 Report). Provide a credible and precise exploitation plan for each partner who provides a GE implementation. Such information was orally requested by the European Commission Project Officer at the end of the Month 24 Review Meeting. The information must be submitted before the end of October 2013. It may be submitted by the partner concerned on a confidential basis to the European Commission Project Officer. It is expected that the exploitation plans will cover all GE implementations to a sufficient degree demonstrating business commitment. =========== We'll talk about this point in the I2ND confcall on Thursday. BR Pier -----Messaggio originale----- Da: Banniza, Thomas-Rolf (Thomas-Rolf) [mailto:thomas-rolf.banniza at alcatel-lucent.com] Inviato: martedì 8 ottobre 2013 14:49 A: Garino Pierangelo Cc: FiWare WP7 (fiware-i2nd at lists.fi-ware.eu) Oggetto: FIWARE: Comission requests Exploitaion Plans per GEi Dear Pier, when checking the result of the review, I've seen that the EC request updated/new exploitation plans per GEi. Please find my findings about this request after the copied text. *******************begin copied text*********************** Therefore, the Commission requests exploitation plans: * For all GE implementations except the 16 above-mentioned GE implementations with open source software licenses, so for the 32 and other GE implementations that are not (yet) in the Catalogue. The cockpit contains several of those. * To be provided by the GE implementation owner, irrespective of the type of organization, so commercial or not. Organizations that joined the consortium as a result of a competitive call for additional beneficiaries and their GE implementations are excluded. * To be sent directly to the Commission. * To be provided before 31 October 2013. In case no document is received by that date, the latest available version will be used, i.e. deliverable D11.2.2 or individual exploitation plans sent to the Commission after the last review meeting. * To be provided instead of the requested resubmission of deliverable D11.2.2. The review report requests a resubmission of D11.2.2 for month 30. This is replaced by this request for confidential, individual exploitation plans. The received or latest exploitation plans will be evaluated. Use of the respective GE implementations by the phase 2 use case projects will also be considered. The result of this evaluation is that the prospects for future use of GE implementations will be assessed. It may lead to decisions to stop funding certain activities and allocate scarce funds to more promising areas for the remainder of the project. *******************end copied text*********************** As explicitly stated, these exploitation plans are requested per GEi, not per partner company (as all previous exploitation plans). The previous exploitation plans discussed relevance of FIWARE as a whole and the workpackage in particular for future business of the partner company. In my eyes, this cannot be done in a similar way for a single GEi. If we now look at the first bullet in the text above, exploitation plans are requested only for those GEis without open source software license. This leads me to the impression, that the new exploitation plans should not cover the business aspects of the GEi (at least not as main topic), but it should outline mainly how the GE will be available for potential users after end of FIWARE and PPP. This is completely different from the old interpretation of an exploitation plan. --> Is this also your interpretation? If we assume my interpretation as correct, we should check how to solve this issue: In principle, all this information is already listed in the terms and conditions page in the catalogue. What we could do to comply with the request of the EC (beside simply pointing to the catalogue), is the following: We could set up a small document, describing how the different classes of partners/potential GE users can get a copy of the software, and we could stat additionally that we would maintain this offer for the foreseeable future. --> Can you agree with this interpretation? Please keep in mind, that statements dealing with those items cannot be given by me or our research department without prior check and approval by our legal department, so we need a quick feedback on what is expected from us. I send this mail also in cc to the whole I2ND, because I expect all partners having similar issues with this EC request. We should discuss this, and also potential implications, in our WP7 telco next Thursday. Best regards, Thomas Thomas R.
