[Fiware-iot] Assets selection: status and comments

Dear all,

 

We have this evening 3 documents to describe which assets were selected
by the Task Leaders. The IoT Communication part is missing but in the
Excel sheet (V30) partners have also to use colours for their assets and
fulfill 2 additional rows (type o licence. Status of the code).

 

Please do it so we can have a more fruitful discussion next Friday.

 

I've also added the Excel file with PM resources per partner and per
task. Some of you have not validated this distribution of resources but,
crossing resources and existing assets selection we have to deal with
this challenge: some partners have resources but no work to do! This is
an extreme position but when we have only closed source assets, we
cannot expect that some other will contribute without sharing IPR and if
it is a closed source, this is also because a partner does not want to
share IPR.

 

We have 4 ways to manage this issue:

1.       For Task leader, be sure that you have detailed the rational
for your selection (and have enough details for some assets to do it)

2.       Select Open Source assets so several partners could work on
them without IPR issues. Working on these assets is not a decision to
provide the results to the Open Source community. Of course it is better
especially for impact creation, but we can build closed source
components on the top of existing Open Source middleware. In this case
we can share the IPR or if developments are in different components each
of us can manage its own IPR for its own additional component

3.       Select 1 or 2 other assets and manage the Open Interface
between them to demonstrate that FIWare Open Specifications are not only
a word but could be implemented.

4.       Modify the resources distribution, which could weaken WP
position during next reviews, as well as FIWare position

 

Take all these comments into account before to check again assets
selection and prepare next weekly meeting. We have to reach an agreement
for assets selection at the end of this week.
