Objet : [Fiware-apps] Status of the IdM and our pending presentation about it

Dear Markus, dear all,

We volunteered to give a short presentation about the IdM architecture and how we are using it to integrate our own GEs in the FI-LAB portal infrastructure. Nevertheless we have had to postpone it a couple of times because there are still some issues to be solved and it is still work in progress. I think that giving this presentation now is useless and, even worst, could lead to confusion and efforts in the wrong direction.

For the time being, the single sign-on process provided by the IdM is to some point stable and has already been implemented by the different portals. The IdM is also capable of returning to the users info about their rights, their membership to organizations, etc. (e.g. we are using these features in the WStore). The work is now focused on the single sign-out process, and on the propagation of authorizations and authorization-related security attributes from the portals to the GEis to the backend services/applications (e.g. they are working on the support for Oauth2 token migration amongst the different GEs, etc.).

The IdM is the responsibility of other WP and is not under our control, so I cannot anticipate when it will be ready and stable enough to allow us to prepare the presentation. Nevertheless, we are collaborating with the owners as a kind of guinea pig :-) so we will be aware of the progress and I will be back with news asap.

Best regards,
Javier
