[Fiware-security] [IMPORTANT] Review of WP8 Open specs. Deadline to reply: Wednesday

Dear all,

I performed what intended to be an editorial review of the Open Specs prior to delivery. I know it is a long message but please read carefully each one of you as I may be modifying part of your work

In general the format was ok but still I found a few things. Just an example:

I took some liberties here and there removing typos. Of course, I did not read it all, I just scanned through it . Theoretically this has been reviewed a number of times already.

Now the more serious part comes.  The Legal Notices acceptable to FI-WARE were agreed ages ago and no others are allowed.

By default, this is the license we must use:

  *   https://wiki.fi-ware.org/FI-WARE_Open_Specification_Legal_Notice_(implicit_patents_license)<https://wiki.fi-ware.org/FI-WARE_Open_Specification_Legal_Notice_%28implicit_patents_license%29>

In VERY particular cases, we may use this alternative:

  *   https://wiki.fi-ware.org/FI-WARE_Open_Specification_Legal_Notice_(essential_patents_license)<https://wiki.fi-ware.org/FI-WARE_Open_Specification_Legal_Notice_%28essential_patents_license%29>

I anticipate that the "essential patents" will possibly cause future trouble to the ones that go for it, "implicit" is strongly advised in all cases.

I assume that all the cases of different "Legal notices" are mistakes or absence of proper updating. I will replace them by the Legal Notice by default ("implicit..."). This is the list of places that needed modification:


  *   IDM: 13.1    Introduction to the Identity Management GE (IdM GE) API - old legal notice
  *   Privacy: 15    Privacy_Open_RESTful_API_Specification - old Legal notice (and in contradiction with section 14, where they have the right one)
  *   SSS: 24.3 and again in 25.2 - Old one
  *   Very serious: the last two sections added by the WPL were the pages with the old licenses. I deleted them and added the good ones at the end manually.

I  will deliver the attached document on Wednesday unless the WPL (or Daniel as replacement of Pascal in his absence) tells me to do it before then - in representation of the whole WP. You have until that moment to make any comments.
