Message-ID: Dear FI-PPP AB colleagues, after the very successful meeting in Tel Aviv (thank you again Peretz for the perfect organisation of the meeting and the wonderfull hospitality) I'm back with some work for you ... Indeed, as mentioned in the last Architecture Board meeting the EC asked FI-WARE project to conduct a ?first feedback survey? in relation to our efforts in providing the FI-WARE Testbed to you. This is to be conducted in *addition *to the validation planning and execution, which will be handled in a separate questionnaire and process basically following what i showed at the meeting. To this end, in order to keep the effort low on both sides, we tried to assemble a reasonable amount of information already received by you about the current state of work and came up with related questions. We would like you to be able to compile the answers to the questions in relative short time but not later than the 12th of October. Please send your answers to me and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any additional questions concerning the process or feel that you are not able to deliver the answers according to the deadline. Thanks a lot for your dedication and making effort to help us improve our offering to you. We would be gratefull to receive your comments and answers to the following questions: 1. Did you get access to the Testbed?* Notes: We intend to identify if somebody has not been able to get access to the Testbed as of today.* 2. Does the shared table on https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqGGeaQGro3fdEd6bGhLQWtNai1jeGN5UnJMeEdxZ0E#gid=0 (current status attached below) reflect your planning out of usage of FI-WARE GEs and the Testbed in general ? *Notes: Provide any suggestion about info that should be added in your opinion* 3. When do you plan to execute the validation? *Notes: Please indicate if you are compliant to the timing, outlined in figure 2.* 4. What is the first scenario of your scenario plans which you are envisioning to validate with the help of the Testbed?* Notes: Please indicate if you already took the decision where to start and which main scenario is your driver. Please briefly describe the scenario and it?s main components/storyline.* 5. Which FI-WARE Generic Enabler did you already access? Please try to reference the entry in the FI-WARE Catalogues ( http://catalogue.fi-ware.eu) or via an existing architecture description linked as attachment to this questionnaire (see below) *Notes: If you are still in exploration phase or didn?t access any of out GEs, please fill ?We didn?t plan to access a GE so far?* 6. If you filled Question 5: Are you happy with the information provided about the accessed FI-WARE generic enablers (FI-WARE catalogue & Architecture Descriptions, linked below) *Notes: If you miss vital information on how to use, understand or further exploit our GE, please let us know which main points you would have needed to be described in the linked documents.* 7. Please highlight one or two things that you like about the FI-WARE Testbed and that you definitively would like to change regarding the FI-WARE Testbed? Notes: Please try to give a rational and potential steps for us to improve, if you feel uncomfortable with something. ** 8. Aditional and/or general remarks towards the Testbed you want to rise. *Notes: Please provide any general comments or remarks that would help us improve the service offered.* To summarize, this survey is needed in order to gather the ?first impression? of the Testbed and show to the EC the current state of interaction between the FI-PPP projects as well as trying to identify as early as possible potential barriers and difficulties . As announced in the AB meeting we will have the separate validation being send to you in the midt of October. Looking forward for your feedback and further collaborations. In fact, since potentially updates of FI-WARE GEs on the Testbed could occur also after minor release completion or at the end of some sprints, it is useful to indicate which is the actual involved release. In this way, the "progress" field will highlight the installation status of that GE release. Basically the structure is not changed excerpt that for a new table field named ?Release?. In fact, since potentially updates of FI-WARE GEs on the Testbed could occur also after minor release completion or at the end of some sprints, it is useful to indicate which is the actual involved release. In this way, the ?progress? field will highlight the installation status of that GE release. Obviously at the end of the Major Release completion (June 30th 2013), we will have to have all GEs, in the release 2.3.3, with progress value = 80%. The development of the store is part of the 2nd Amendment (UPM will be assigned that task) and, as you probably know, TID is waiting to include the new partners that will join the consortium as a result of the 1st Open Call. We can't declare any efforts until the Amendment is approved by the EC, so we need to be careful when establishing these "milestones" or when releasing its architecture, open specs, APIs or code. TID expects to have the amendment submitted by this month, so I think we will have something to show for the release 2.2 (by March) as declared in the tracker. Apart from that, we are doing our best to minimize the impact of this delay in the progress of the releases (I hope I'm being clear ;-), but it is something we can not "put black on white". Please, bear it in mind. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Hi Stefano, Is there a support from RED.es or the Testbed for issuing the needed ssl-certificates for port 443? I think if we go for SSL we shouldn't go for self-signed certificates as this would be the next complaint we might get. The problem is: certificates aren't for free. The first option would be to have a trusted CA sign the CAs (which comes at a cost). The second option might be that we issue certificates with an own CA and a given user would have to adopt "only" the FI-WARE CA once, and then would have access to the SSL-enabled Testbed. Oktober 2012 11:18 To: stefano de panfilis; Paolo Zampognaro; fiware-testbed at lists.fi-ware.eu Subject: [Fiware-testbed] Validation process - new template, current status & next steps Dear colleagues, Please find attached another version of the questionnaire, hopefully about to be "stable". I rearranged some questions and reformulated others in order for them to make more sense. Additionally I started to draft a way on how the UC projects can provide us the answers, at least for the more "complex" questions - namely 4.3 - overall GE validation. Find this one attached for the envirofi-case. Next steps: 1. EVERYBODY to check if we can skip or change questions or if we need more 2. EVERYBODY to check if he is able to answer some of the questions provided in the xls-sheet 3. Any ideas on how to make it more easy to answer the questions, of if it's really suitable to have the answers of the questions in this particular table format? 4. Any layout changes & best bets on how to use xls for such a task? 5. We then basically have to agree on a final list of questions to be asked (deadline: next phc) 6. Send questionnaire to WPL/WPA for feedback & (optionally) present the questionnaire on the WPL/WPA meeting 7. Collect feedback from WPL/WPA 8. I will then compile the xls-sheets with the stable list of questions for every use case 9. We send out the validation plan and the answer-sheets next week or the week after Any comments or additions welcome and highly appreciated! As you can read directly there [1] it is required that the GE owners run the unit tests on the installed GE. If such tests pass, they will update by themselves the value to 90%. Then the testbed team will assign the 100% once they pass also the integration tests the GEs are involved in. If no integration test was defined and executed for this version, the testbed team will update the value to 100% as well (simply because the GEs are not involved in dependencies but they are, anyway, properly running). Then, please, start updating such value as soon as possible. (WPLs, please, forward such request inside your chapter). Oktober 2012 01:03 An: ab at fi-ppp.eu Cc: fiware-testbed at lists.fi-ware.eu Betreff: [FI-PPP AB] Firts Impression on using the FI-WARE Testbed: your input needed!!! Dear FI-PPP AB colleagues, after the very successful meeting in Tel Aviv (thank you again Peretz for the perfect organisation of the meeting and the wonderfull hospitality) I'm back with some work for you ... Indeed, as mentioned in the last Architecture Board meeting the EC asked FI-WARE project to conduct a "first feedback survey" in relation to our efforts in providing the FI-WARE Testbed to you. This is to be conducted in addition to the validation planning and execution, which will be handled in a separate questionnaire and process basically following what i showed at the meeting. Did you get access to the Testbed? Notes: We intend to identify if somebody has not been able to get access to the Testbed as of today. 2. Notes: Provide any suggestion about info that should be added in your opinion 3. When do you plan to execute the validation? Notes: Please indicate if you are compliant to the timing, outlined in figure 2. 4. What is the first scenario of your scenario plans which you are envisioning to validate with the help of the Testbed? Notes: Please indicate if you already took the decision where to start and which main scenario is your driver. Please briefly describe the scenario and it's main components/storyline. 5. Which FI-WARE Generic Enabler did you already access? Please try to reference the entry in the FI-WARE Catalogues (http://catalogue.fi-ware.eu) or via an existing architecture description linked as attachment to this questionnaire (see below) Notes: If you are still in exploration phase or didn't access any of out GEs, please fill "We didn't plan to access a GE so far" 6. If you filled Question 5: Are you happy with the information provided about the accessed FI-WARE generic enablers (FI-WARE catalogue & Architecture Descriptions, linked below) Notes: If you miss vital information on how to use, understand or further exploit our GE, please let us know which main points you would have needed to be described in the linked documents. 7. Please highlight one or two things that you like about the FI-WARE Testbed and that you definitively would like to change regarding the FI-WARE Testbed? Notes: Please try to give a rational and potential steps for us to improve, if you feel uncomfortable with something. 8. Aditional and/or general remarks towards the Testbed you want to rise. Notes: Please provide any general comments or remarks that would help us improve the service offered. To summarize, this survey is needed in order to gather the "first impression" of the Testbed and show to the EC the current state of interaction between the FI-PPP projects as well as trying to identify as early as possible potential barriers and difficulties . As announced in the AB meeting we will have the separate validation being send to you in the midt of October. Looking forward for your feedback and further collaborations. Things that come to my mind: - We need a more prominent "portal" or wiki-part for the Testbed, where use case partners can find background AND up-to-date informations and announcements (perhaps even a twitter feed or a rss channel) (perhaps increase the functionality of the catalogue?) - We need to proactively inform the users when an IP/port or hostname of a GE changes - The GE do need a "how to get started" section somewhere - We should compile a "information" package for every GE, which has all needed information in pdf format and a small presentation on the GE itself - It still seems to be unclear whom to contact in the project, if there are problems - we need to much more encourage the people to use the tracker or find out, why they don't use it - With "we" I mean the FI-WARE project as a hole. How will this document and my comments be brought up to the other WPL/WPA and the project management team? As I'm managing the development of this GE, let me point out that this is normal and that it is documented: the cloud edge is not a cloud-based IaaS application but a software that is intended to be ran at the edge of the internet (for example, in the customer's home), it is a mixture of home gateway and micro data center and cannot be ran in the testbed servers. If you want to use is, the SW is freely available (downloadable) and can be installed on your own PC (normal PC or industrial-grade depending on the usage). As far as I can see, all the GEs are new to the Testbed apart from those in IoT. We do not see the need to keep to separate arrays of VM (one for R1.1 and another one for R1.2) so we will just overwrite the old GEs with the new ones. This will be announced to the UCs to avoid any possible misunderstandings. Did you get access to the Testbed? Notes: We intend to identify if somebody has not been able to get access to the Testbed as of today. 2. That's where UC projects should find all necessary info . (The last ponit is probably out of scope for the Catalogue) I've discussed this with the team here in Ericsson that are developing the Catalogue, and they have proposals for how to do this. The implementation would then be handled in WP9. In addition to functionality, there is also a need of course to update the processes and procedures around populating the Catalogue. Dear colleagues, I think it is evident that we still have a long way ahead of us. Again, also in this case, if no new requirements are needed, you can start from the 40% value in the cockpit wiki page and proceed with the next ones. Again the ?state? value must be changed as well also in the traker naturally. I hope this can provide some clarifications, Cheers, Paolo Paolo Zampognaro R & D Laboratory paolo.zampognaro at eng.it ________________________________________ Engineering Ingegneria Informatica S.p.a. via Emanuele Gianturco, 15 - 80142 Napoli ? We discuss this point during the IoT weekly meeting this morning and it is not clear for me if we have clear guidelines for that. For example some open questions: -If we change anything on the testbed after the 1st sanity check, do we have to ask for another one, or under which conditions do we need another one? -If we add new features we should have to provide a new version of all guides and manuals and of course a new Unit Test Plan so a new sanity check I know that we have many things to do but because of the changes on the testbed and of course new releases we need some guidelines because the UC projects (or external people) could find a Unit Test Plan which would not be compliant with the running software version on the testbed. Thanks for your comments BR Thierry -----Message d'origine----- De : fiware-testbed-bounces at lists.fi-ware.eu [mailto:fiware-testbed-bounces at lists.fi-ware.eu] De la part de Miguel Carrillo Envoy? : mercredi 17 octobre 2012 10:06 ? : fiware-testbed at lists.fi-ware.eu Objet : [Fiware-testbed] Overwriting GEs in the testbed Dear all, Now that the 2nd delivery of the 1st Release is coming, we have to see what to do with the GEs that are going to be resubmitted. I provided some explanations in a private message, but I will put it here again for general knowledge. I am the single contact point for IP authorisation in the FI-WARE testbed and I would expect each UC to have a single contact point for this as well to act in an orderly manner. One more thing. I see in the attachement that you assume that all the software available is the one publicly open on the FI-WARE project. This is just part of what we have. There is also software that is not public but open to the PPP members and this is under the project "FI-WARE PPP Restricted". Any members of the PPP programme are allowed to request access. This can be easily done by following the tutorial at * http://wiki.fi-ware.eu/How_to_join_a_FI-WARE_project_in_FusionForge I hope that this throws some light. Did you get access to the Testbed? Notes: We intend to identify if somebody has not been able to get access to the Testbed as of today. 2. Thank you again for your support on the matter! ciao, stefano ============================================================================ Attached: Additional documents, which might help to fill the questionaire [cid:part9.05040506.00090708 at tid.es] [cid:part10.06000005.00080606 at tid.es] Apps Architecture description of GEs * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Apps.Repository * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Apps.Marketplace * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Apps.Registry * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Apps.RSS * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Apps.Mediator * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Apps.CompositionEditor * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Apps.CompositionExecution * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Apps.Store Cloud Chapter Architecture Description of GEs * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Cloud.DCRM * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Cloud.SM * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Cloud.CloudEdge * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Cloud.ObjectStorage The following GEs are partially available for internal needs of Core GEs, and will provider externally visible APIs in future releases: * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Cloud.Monitoring * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Cloud.Identity Out of scope for the first release: * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Cloud.CloudEdgeRM * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Cloud.MonitoringAnalytics * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Cloud.Accounting * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Cloud.HybridCloudBroker * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Cloud.PaaSManager Data Architecture description of GEs * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Data.BigData * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Data.PubSub * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Data.CEP * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Data.Location * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Data.MetadataPreprocessing * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Data.CompressedDomainVideoAnalysis * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Data.QueryBroker * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Data.SemanticAnnotation * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Data.SemanticSupport IoT Architecture description of GEs Backend * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.IoT.Backend.ThingsManagement * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.IoT.Backend.DeviceManagement Out of scope for the first release: * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.IoT.Backend.AdvancedConnectivity * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.IoT.Backend.Security IoT Architecture description of GEs Gateway Gateway's Generic Enablers will be introduced in two updates of the FIWARE testbed in July and September 2012. * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.IoT.Gateway.DeviceManagement * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.IoT.Gateway.DataHandling * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.IoT.Gateway.ProtocolAdapter Out of scope for the first release: * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.IoT.Gateway.AdvancedConnectivity * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.IoT.Gateway.Security Security Architecture Description of GEs * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Security.Security Monitoring * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Security.Context-based security & compliance * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Identity Management Generic Enabler * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Security.Privacy Generic Enabler * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Security.Data Handling Generic Enabler * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Security.Optional Security Enablers I2ND Architecture description of GEs * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.I2ND.CDI * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.I2ND.CE * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.I2ND.NetIC * FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.I2ND.S3C -- Stefano De Panfilis Chief Innovation Officer Engineering Ingegneria Informatica S.p.A. via Riccardo Morandi 32 00148 Roma Italy tel (direct): +39-068307-4295 tel (secr.): +39-068307-4513 fax: +39-068307-4200 cell: +39-335-7542-567 _______________________________________________ Fiware-testbed mailing list Fiware-testbed at lists.fi-ware.eu http://lists.fi-ware.eu/listinfo/fiware-testbed -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- _/ _/_/ Miguel Carrillo Pacheco _/ _/ _/ _/ Telef?nica Distrito Telef?nica _/ _/_/_/ _/ _/ Investigaci?n y Edifico Oeste 1, Planta 9 _/ _/ _/ _/ Desarrollo Ronda de la Comunicaci?n S/N _/ _/_/ 28050 Madrid (Spain) Tel: (+34) 91 483 26 77 e-mail: mcp at tid.es Follow FI-WARE on the net Website: http://www.fi-ware.eu Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/FI-WARE/251366491587242 Twitter: http://twitter.com/Fiware LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/groups/FIWARE-4239932 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ________________________________ Este mensaje se dirige exclusivamente a su destinatario. We received feedback for our initial survey "first impressions on using the FI-WARE Testbed" and need to compile a report which reflects the main findings and potential actions (for us, the project or in general). I would propose that we write at max. one page, covering the aspects of - General remark on how the use case evaluation is - What were the main positive, what the main negative feedback - Why (if possible) did the use case encounter the problem? - What follow-up action would the Testbed propose to the FI-WARE consortium Currently there are only 4 submissions, therefore it's shouldn't be a big deal... Please opt-in for one use case, analyses the situation and directly writes a subsequent text directly in the wiki: https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/testbed/index.php/The_Initial_Feedback_Survey and the related subsection. I precompiled for all available use cases their submissions in the appendix (if you didn't get them per email): https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/testbed/index.php/D.10.5.1.Appendix Currently we have: * 1.1 FINSENY * 1.2 FInest * 1.3 SAFECITY * 1.4 SMARTAGRIFOOD Can you please indicate which of the use cases you can take? In order to do so, please go to the page The Initial Feedback Survey and just edit the "Remark" statement on one of the subsection in relation to that use case and place your name or your initials there. As the deliverable needs to be submitted by the end of M18 (October) we need you contributions within the next week in order to compile them to a final submission until the 2nd of November. Therefore the Deadline is 26th of October (Friday, next week) Thanks for your support & best regards, /Thorsten For the broader context, here is the link to the submission: https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/testbed/index.php/D.10.5.1.Report_on_Validation_process_including_Validation_with_Use_Case_projects_front_page And the submissions will in the end look like the following: https://sapmats-de.sap-ag.de/download/download.cgi?id=YHOQS1PTTWDEMXHAEU0JNMHVY30AYBBS1UUW4PVN511UXVMLRL -- Thorsten Sandfuchs SAP AG SAP Research Center Karlsruhe Vincenz-Priessnitz-Strasse 1 D - 76131 Karlsruhe www.sap.com Pflichtangaben/Mandatory Disclosure Statements: http://www.sap.com/company/legal/impressum.epx Diese E-Mail kann Betriebs- oder Gesch?ftsgeheimnisse oder sonstige vertrauliche Informationen enthalten. Message-ID: Dear colleagues & management team, after the successful collaboration within the team (thanks a lot for the valuable input), no further comments and or additions by the use case projects, nor by the consortium, I was able prepared the document for final review prior to submission. Especially as we took general comments and recommendations & integrated the feedback of the use case project, this deliverable might be - Should hold "strong" messages provided by the use case projects through the "first initial survey" - Good to submit it in time to the EC And therefore might be one of the key deliverables as well for the upcoming review. You can use the following links to do the review: T10.5 M18 02.11. D.10.5.1.Report on Validation process including Validation with Use Case projects front page generated: D1051_v4_generated.zip related doc: D1051_v4_generated.docx If you just want to review & help improve the document, use the "docx" version and use "Track Changes" or use the Comment functionality within MS word. Please send the document with your comments to me via email or upload it as private document in the forge/docman. If you find "easy to fix" things or give direct feedback, please use the link to the "front page" in the middle of the table and fix the things directly within the wiki. Deadline for the review is mid of next week (Tuesday, 30.10.) in order to keep the deliverable deadline (Wednesday, 31.10.)
