Dear FI-WARE colleagues,

on the 14.05. we release the validation report of FI-PPP use cases from phase 1 to the EC in a "in time" and not "complete" version. You can find the document in the fi-ware-private wiki and in the docman (e.g. https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/fi-ware-review/index.php/D.10.5.2.Report_on_Validation_process_including_Validation_with_Use_Case_projects_front_page - and the linked pages!)

It touches on how the Use case of phase 1 planned and executed the validation of FI-WARE GEs. Please familiarize yourself with the content especially the part about the validation execution report on the following page is interesting for GE providers that want to know more on how their component was rated or how to find this out https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/fi-ware-review/index.php/The_Validation_Report.

As you can read in the executive summary on https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/fi-ware-review/index.php/D.10.5.2.Report_on_Validation_process_including_Validation_with_Use_Case_projects_front_page, we expect that we have to resubmit this deliverable as D.10.5.2b within the July time frame. For phase 2 UC projects there will be a separate process to refine the validation process tailored to their needs. The status is the following: we did not receive many new answers to the questions, despite one: ENVIROFI - therefore we will NOT submit this for the end of July.

The "Validation Report" was only the beginning - we have to work on chapter-specific analysis of the validation answers (metrics and scenario documents) which has been provided to us. We are still waiting for 2 use cases to send us the relevant documents, but we should already start documenting more thoroughly what happened during the past month with the UC projects and how they did find it.

1. I prepared a "2013-07-26-FI-WARE validation analysis.pptx" which guides you through some of the answers - chapter and FI-WARE specific. Really interesting stuff - find it here: https://forge.fi-ware.eu/docman/view.php/27/2753/2013-07-26-FI-WARE_validation_anlysis.pptx

This document provides as well the methodology on how to furthermore structure the requested analysis.

2. I reiterated the content and updated the "pivot" tables, mentioned in the Validation report - with this help you can do some nice number crunching on your own. https://forge.fi-ware.eu/docman/view.php/27/2752/2013-07-26-validation-answers-to-validation-questionnaire-phase-one_updated_august.xlsx

In the end this can be a chance for everybody to get crisp messages how your GEs are used! Being relevant, usefull and used and being able to "proof" this.

Find all scenario descriptions (on where they used FI-WARE GEs) and the answers to all the GEs (star-ratings and free text) in the private docman: https://forge.fi-ware.eu/docman/?group_id=27 Folder: "Validation"

If you want to know how to use the xls-pivot table (2013-07-26-validation-answers-to-validation-questionnaire-phase-one_updates_august) to your advantage in order to see "your" rating - or the rating of the chapter, have a look at the last slides of the analysis.

As said we will furthermore engage with you and gather your view and ask for your analysis of the answers provided towards your chapter or your component. This will be most probably gathered in the fi-ware-private wiki and has a PP-only dissemination level.

There are the following action points:

1. Agree on how we want to (this should be done on WPL/WPA level) - my proposal is part of the mentioned powerpoint: https://forge.fi-ware.eu/docman/view.php/27/2753/2013-07-26-FI-WARE_validation_anlysis.pptx

2. Look at the result for "your GEs" and try to assess what you can and should improve - e.g. the analysis is prepared here as well: https://forge.fi-ware.eu/docman/view.php/27/2753/2013-07-26-FI-WARE_validation_anlysis.pptx

3. Gather your insights internally & the wiki and final deliverable - The wiki to use is: https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/testbed/index.php/The_Validation_Analysis

As already said: there will be hopefully more answers coming up in the near future, once the final use cases submit their answers... We will keep you posted on updates. But don't wait until then to familiarize yourself with this.

Please forward this to your GE providers, if you think this is as well relevant for them.

Thanks,

                                                               /Thorsten
PS: as I will be on vacation until the 16th of august, starting from the 29th of July, please approach Stefano De Panfilis in my absence for further questions.
