Dear FI-Ware colleagues, This email contains a lot of SHOUTING but I assure you I am very friendly. Yet I fear the EC is NOT so friendly concerning missed or bad deliverables. Due to the now overdue-deadline, I am taking the unusual step of sending to all of you the current status of the deliverable on Standardization Planning. If you have _nothing_ to do with that topic, you do not need to read any further... Hopefully all Workpackage Leaders and delegates in OASIS, W3C, OMA, ETSI M2M, etc etc are still reading, and also Developers who are using or adapting existing protocols and APIs ... because this affects you. Just confirm with your WPL ;-) I have so far received 6 out or 20 replies concerning Partner activities in standards. If you belong to the other 14 organizations, please kindly send an update of: FI-Ware_Input_for_Standardisation_Plan_6AnswersFrom20_20120201.docx Using that information, I created a (hopefully) logical planning document: FI-Ware_Standardization_List_20120201_CONFIDENTIAL.xlsx (but still with many many holes in it). However, following some conversations between Ernoe (NEC) and Juan Bareño Guerenabarrena and WPLs at the last meeting, I was asked to format the Deliverable as a Word Document FI-WARE_Standardisation_Plan_20120201.docx (based on the XLS) with the following chapters, WHICH I KINDLY ASK YOU TO COMPLETE. WPLs are kindly asked to consider how they will schedule this activity (which is only collated by me, not defined/developed by me). Please input to the attached FI-WARE_Standardisation_Plan_20120201.docx as follows: Chapter 2: WP Standardization Needs · Survey the SDO landscape (see Annex) · Identify relevant SDOs for each work package, (especially the architectural and technical WPs) · Classify SDOs into "Will Monitore", "Will Use", "Will Contribute" Chapter 3: WP Gap Analysis · for each Interface, and for each GE, analyze which standard (or open source specification or consortia specification or published Web API, etc) is relevant and what are the gaps in functionality between the existing status and what is needed within FI-Ware · Create action items within each WP designed to fill those gaps, by adapting/creating standards to be "fit for purpose" within FI-Ware Chapter 4: WP Strategy: Standardization Plan by Work Package · Define a WP Strategy by assigning the action items needed in each SDO to specific partners, taking account of existing partner resources within various SDOs · Based on discussions between experts within each SDO, organize the action items into a timetable matching the pace of step-by-step development of functionalities within FI-Ware R&D and the pace of meetings of each SDO Annex: Relevant Standardization Bodies · Summarize general information about the relevant standardization bodies, for convenient reference and potentially as a public resource All comments about a better/easier format are most welcome. BUT HOWEVER WE CUT IT, OR SHAPE IT, FI-Ware NEEDS YOUR INFORMATION ! The deadline for all this was yesterday, however I hope that a GOOD deliverable sent a few weeks late will still be acceptable. Everyone is invited to SHOUT back at me (but preferably not in reply-to-all) Best regards, Lindsay Frost _____________________________________________ Dr. Lindsay Frost, Chief Standardization Eng. I haven't seen any email from NEC updating all the chapters on this. But I may be wrong ... Please, take care of this.
