  Please find enclosed an email sent by Mr. Jesús Villasante regarding revision of the FIWARE Catalogue.   The EC is asking us to take immediate action so we will propose a concrete plan to carry out.

  In addition to this, we have been asked to improve the "friendlyness" of information about FIWARE GEs, including navigation through the FIWARE Catalogue, so it gets easier to digest for developers.   We will also get back to you on the matter.

Dear Juanjo,

An important outcome of the meeting with the FIWARE Accelerators yesterday was the imperative need for high quality and fully supported FIWARE generic enablers. Software developers who reviewed the generic enablers in the catalogue found that not all were of the high standard expected from such initiative and that licensing terms are confusing or not what the market expects. In addition, it appears some generic enablers will not be supported in the future.

More importantly, beginning with September thousands of software developers will scrutinise FIWARE in great detail to see what possibilities it offers and what new services can be built upon it. They expect high quality generic enabler readily available. Any component with no contrasted quality component, linked to impractical licensing terms, or for which no support is planned may jeopardise the entire programme and must therefore be removed from the catalogue. These could be later on be added to the catalogue when they fulfil these conditions.

Therefore, as project coordinator, you must ensure that only high-quality generic enablers, ready for use without further contacting, with clear licensing terms and which come with future support, are offered through the FIWARE catalogue.

It is imperative that you react authoritative and without delay in reducing the catalogue to generic enablers. Please inform me when the action has been carried out.
