[Old-Fiware] IMPORTANT: Migration of FIWARE mailing lists

Dear all,

Although silently we are planning ahead and deciding how to transition the collaborative tools from the "old FIWARE" project to the "FIWARE continuation" project. Let us take into account that there is an overlap until the end of the year and both may need to do work with  separate channels.

I think that it would be a good idea to spread this message within your organizations, particularly those who are new to FIWARE, to allow people to contact the chapter leaders/architects and tell them to add you to the relevant lists.

This message is focused on the mailing lists exclusively.

MAILING LISTS FOR THE "OLD" FIWARE PROJECT

This part is to be read by the members of the old consortium (regardless of whether they are members of the new one or not)

The main "fiware-*" lists have been renamed as "old-fiware-*". The subscribers, passwords, admin people, settings, etc remain the same.

The lists affected by the change are:

  *   General list: old-fiware at lists.fi-ware.org<mailto:old-fiware at lists.fi-ware.org>  (formerly known as fiware at lists.fi-ware.org<mailto:fiware at lists.fi-ware.org>)
  *   old-fiware-apps at lists.fi-ware.org<mailto:old-fiware-apps at lists.fi-ware.org>
  *   old-fiware-cloud at lists.fi-ware.org<mailto:old-fiware-cloud at lists.fi-ware.org>

Please do not use the lists you were using in the past, they are reused for the new consortium.

MAILING LISTS FOR THE "CONTINUATION" FIWARE PROJECT

This part is to be read by the members of the new consortium (members of the old one or not)

We have created new lists with the same names as in the past. Although with the same name, they need to be administrated. Most of them are empty at the moment (no members). The administration of the list per chapter is the responsibility of the leader and the architect.

  *   General list: fiware at lists.fi-ware.org<mailto:fiware at lists.fi-ware.org>  - this one is administrated by the coordination and the leaders& architects  of WP plus the WG leaders. Please refrain from sending the requests to the coordinator by default and try to get your leader to do it directly for you.
     *   We have seeded this list with the list of the kick off attendees and with those who were in the mailing list of the proposal as well. Obviously, we need to add more people.
     *   This one has to be used carefully (there are too many people here to spam them - the messages have to be relevant for them)
  *   fiware-apps at lists.fi-ware.org<mailto:fiware-apps at lists.fi-ware.org>
  *   fiware-cloud at lists.fi-ware.org<mailto:fiware-cloud at lists.fi-ware.org>

Note: "old" WP13 has a slightly different treatment and I will let them know how to proceed in a separate message to their particular list.

Today I will send instructions and passwords to the leaders/architects of the WPs of the new project to handle the lists.

Caveat: if you intend to reply to this message, think twice. You may be spamming more than 1000 people :)
