TOKEN is joining FIWARE at *Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) 2022 *this
week. Together with the cities of *Leuven *(Belgium), *Santander*
(Spain), and *Katerini* (Greece), we will discuss how Distributed Ledger
Technologies (DLTs) can contribute to accelerating the transformation of
public services towards an open government model based on the principles of
collaboration, transparency, and participation. Now more than ever,
governments have the chance to overcome traditional barriers to innovation
and answer to the growing demand for more transparent public services,
keeping privacy and building trust through citizen engagement.

*TOKEN at Smart Country Convention in Berlin*

Last month, TOKEN took part in a special workshop;* "Der sichere Weg: mit
Open Source zur Smart City"*, at Smart Country Convention in Berlin. The
event highlighted, in particular, two concrete and successful use cases
from the TOKEN Project that relate to the use of blockchain
technology. Jason Fox (FIWARE Foundation) presented *"Integration of
Blockchain/DL Technologies in Smart Cities for Transparency and Auditing of
Processes"* with specific use cases in Santander (Spain) and Leuven
(Belgium) on behalf of the project.
*The 4th TOKEN Policy Observatory Meeting*

The *4th TOKEN Policy Observatory Meeting* was held on 14 September 2022
during the *FIWARE Global Summit* in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain).
The meeting gathered professionals working with applications of Distributed
Ledger Technologies (DLTs) in the public sector to discuss operative
learnings, the policy landscape, and scaling potential related to current
