Dear FIWARE Community,

And just like that, we have reached our second to last Marketing Round-up
of 2020! It's been quite the year, but we would like to focus on the
positive. We shifted from the in-person events that we all know and love to
virtual events; webinars, FIWARE DAYS, virtual meetings, and we think it is
fair to say we have become quite accustomed to “the new normal“. In
addition, 2020 has taught us that we can still very much be a tight-knit
community, even from the comfort of our own homes. We want to thank the
entire FIWARE Community for its continued enthusiasm and support, for
helping us to bring new and exciting initiatives to life, and for joining
us on the rollercoaster that has been 2020. But it isn't over until it's
over! Without further ado, let's dive into this month's FIWARE Marketing

Innovation for sustainable tourism: Hackatour FIDI 2020
We are excited to be working together with our FIWARE iHub in
Argentina, *Instituto
Ciudades del Futuro, *to organize the *Hackatour FIDI 2020* as part of
the virtual *International Fair of Smart Destinations* (FIDI), which is
taking place from 20-29 November. With the Hackatour, we commit to
technological innovation and disruptive ideas aimed at good data management
in consolidated cities. We, therefore, invite all our members to join
fellow innovators and entrepreneurs in the development of FIWARE
technological solutions aimed at solving the challenges in the domain of

“*Wisdom Across the Board**”** featuring Pierre Golz*
We're back with a brand new installment of our *“Wisdom Across the Board” *
interview series, this time featuring someone who had only just recently
joined the FIWARE Foundation Board of Directors (BoD), namely: *Pierre Golz*.
Pierre is the Chief Digital Officer of the German city of Herne and in
charge of moving the city’s digitization process forward. He joined the
city as an organizational developer and change manager, and since 2013, he
has been working on projects focused on digitization and process
management. Fun fact: At the age of 31, Pierre is the city’s youngest CDO
to date. Let's dive into Pierre’s career trajectory, what his role within
the FIWARE Community will look like, and what he brings to the (BoD) table.

*Brand new white paper with SAP*
Marking the start of the collaboration between *FIWARE* and *SAP*, the
joint white paper *“Smart City Ecosystem: Laying the foundations – using
decision-making sovereignty”* answers the question: How can we provide
technical access to an open platform to support citizen-oriented
services? The white paper provides an in-depth look at the precise adoption
of Digital Twins to control the requirements of cities based on a
system-of-systems approach, which describes the interaction of different
platforms and systems in an ecosystem. As the Open Source technology of
choice for developing smart solutions, FIWARE has laid the common
foundation for the ecosystem’s technical realization with this initiative
together with *NEC*, *SAP*, *itelligence*, *Unity*, and others.

Community features the French city of *Saint-Quentin* and its journey
towards digital transformation in order to increase the efficiency of
public services. More specifically, *it focuses on modernizing the

#FIWAREImpactStory: Improving air quality for athletes in urban areas
Our brand new Impact Story with *Bettair* is out! Ever wondered if it is
healthy to go for a run in the city? Time to find out! Currently, a vast
majority of the world’s large metropolitan areas face air pollution
problems. The practice of sports, especially running, in urban areas,
creates extensive direct contact with local pollutants as well as a higher
inhalation of air. To promote sports and a healthy lifestyle through
sports, the relationship between air quality and running has been analyzed
by deploying sensors in five Spanish cities: *Madrid*, *Barcelona*,
*Seville*, *Málaga*, and *San Sebastian*.

November is going to be filled to the brim with outstanding successful
cases from *NEC*, the *city of Málaga*, and *Elliot Cloud.* Want to get

*HOPU*, *Naeva Tec* and *Teamdev*, as well as PD Dr. med. *Dominik
Pförringer*. We look forward to expanding our existing booklets in 2021 but
also creating new ones around relevant FIWARE topics. Did you know that you

Follow FIWARE at FIDI 2020
FIWARE is a proud Platinum Sponsor of *FIDI 2020*, *the International Fair
