[Fiware-lab-help] FI-LAB landing page

Dear Philipp,

Thanks for taking the trouble to write to us and provide feedback.

We have experienced a lot of trouble in the past with our multiple websites. Even if you put all the info there, people complain that they do not find it unless it is under their very nose! :) This is why this time we put the tutorials in the foreground with no need to navigate to reach them. This is something we need to keep unless we want to get complaints and queries all the time.

But you are right that this could be improved taking into consideration these more than reasonable inputs.

  * We will consider adding a new tab with something like "what is this about?" (and we will give the context and pointers to the resources)
  * I will try to get people to add a link to the catalogue - the place with part of the info you are missing here (FI-WARE Architecture, APIs, ...)

I am not sure if you imply that FI-LAB is the default place to work for the UCs. Just to clarify, FI-LAB is open to everyone, PPP member or not, and the PPP members are primarily expected to use the Testbed. If there is something PPP restricted be sure that you will have it on the testbed but not on FI-LAB. If you are a FI-WARE member and a UC member and this is not clear to you, it would be a signal that we need to clarify something. As I guess that you attend the PPP Architecture Board meetings, I'd appreciate if you could make a point of clarifying this in the next meeting if necessary.

The Testbed can be accessed as usual (http://cloud.testbed.fi-ware.eu/). Before you ask, I can informally let you know you that we are taking the portal that we have in FI-LAB and producing a twin environment on the testbed - not publishable yet as there are still things to change (you can have a peek here: http://testbed.fi-ware.eu/, please do not disseminate it)

All takes time... :-)

Thanks again, much appreciated!

Miguel

Hi,

Great to see that the FI-LAB pages have been greatly improved.

One suggestion: The landing page directly shows access to the videos that are about the details of the platform. May I suggest that the landing page first provides some high-level context about what FI-LAB is in the first place. This context is really important for people to make sense of it all. They might not know anything about FI-PPP, FI-WARE, and so on.

This would also be a good place to provide links to all the other available info (FI-WARE Architecture, APIs, list of UCs building on top of FI-LAB, list of UC SEs deployed on FI-LABs).

Best,

    Philipp
