Dear colleagues, I have checked WP6 of the proposal (impact and sustainability) and even though the ideas and the text are very relevant I think it is very important that the proposal shows industrial involvement in such activities. In the same way that it is important that a big industry does not lead a task related to reference zones I think that industrial involvement here is essential to achieve good results. We have shown that services are driven by needs of the cities, but once the OASC principles are agreed by them, it is essential that vendors take a step further and do their part. We should not be ashamed of having as objective the increase of market share for EU players. In the end we are building a market, so, business should also be a driver of the proposal. Openness and elements like no vendor lock-in make clear that the competition will be allowed, but the interests of our companies in bringing this forward is making business. And the most credible approach for that is having companies behind. I am fine with the WP leadership by Aalto but since there are several tasks I suggest that we distribute task leadership. I suggest Atos to greatly contribute to this WP and lead one task. Some justifications It is quite natural since we have led the Exploitation in both FIWARE and FI-CORE. The market research and plans presented there have always been very much appreciated by reviewers. Besides that, Atos in Founding member of the FIWARE Foundation and can establish the links with some of the activities that will be performed there. We are also members of AIOTI, Eurocities and one of the partners of the ESPRESSO CSA, the one working on the standardization strategy for smart cities in the EIP on SCC. We have good knowledge on the projects running in the EU in IoT (I think we were the most successful company in the last IoT call), so, good capabilities to establish links and promote interoperability between architectures that have been worked out during years in the IoT unit. Some examples of projects that combine specifically IoT and Smart Cities use cases are: * VICINITY (Open virtual neighbourhood network to connect intelligent buildings and smart objects) [http://vicinity-h2020.eu] * COSMOS (Cultivate resilient smart Objects for Sustainable city applicatiOnS) [http://iot-cosmos.eu/] * VITAL (Virtualized programmable InTerfAces for innovative cost-effective IoT depLoyments in smart cities) [http://vital-iot.eu/] * iKaaS (Intelligence Knowledge as a Service Platform) [http://www.ikaas.com/] * UNCAP (Ubiquitous iNteroperable Care for Ageing People) [http://www.uncap.eu/] * MOVEUS (http://www.moveus-project.eu/) * RADICAL http://www.radical-project.eu/ * RERUM https://ict-rerum.eu/ , * Ciudad2020 http://www.innprontaciudad2020.es/ * Co-Cities http://www.co-cities.eu/ * Older ones: COCKPIT, OPEN-CITIES http://opencities.net/ * Smart government: STRATEGIC http://strategic-project.eu/, PolicyCompass http://www.co-cities.eu/ The last one helps to define policies based on real-time data of the cities captured through IoT infrastructure; it may inspire some of the cases of the reference zones... But after all, Atos is also one of the most important players in Europe in the Public sector market. 26% of our global annual incomes come from the Public Sector, health and Transport market, which is the second biggest one for Atos (figure from 2015). My two cents in case this can reinforce the proposal.
