    Toronto (Canada) <http://smartcity360.org/2015/toronto/>*

Through the active engagement of FIWARE in several international
innovation initiatives, promoted within the context of the FIWARE
Mundus programme, close contacts have been established in North
America with various key players both in the USA and in Canada, so
    as to promote FIWARE worldwide.

Specific focus has been dedicated to explore concrete opportunities
in the Smart Cities domain, which is a key vertical segment where
FIWARE adoption has become increasingly relevant. In this context,
as an important step forward, FIWARE has been invited to join the
SmartCity 360° Summit, which is a world-wide event taking place
simultaneously in Bratislava (Slovakia) and Toronto (Canada), during
    October 13-15, 2015.

The Toronto event, to be held on the 14-15 October, will be held
jointly with i-Canada’s World Future Cities Summit, which focuses on
economic, social, and political aspects of Smart Cities, and
selected representatives will be there to present and demonstrate
the potential of FIWARE as an open innovation platform enabling
    smart cities services and applications.

Couple of FIWARE presentations and demonstrations have been
scheduled. Jacques Magen (InterInnov) and Silvio Cretti (CREATE-NET)
will present /"FIWARE, the open environment for the development of
smart cities applications" /during the session focusing on
international research activities - the preliminary programme
<http://smartcity360.org/2015/program-to/> can be found on-line. The
presentation will provide an overview of *FIWARE*, an open
initiative aiming to create a sustainable ecosystem to grasp the
opportunities that will emerge with the new wave of digitalization
caused by the integration of recent Internet technologies. Silvio
Cretti will also be part of the "Panel on smart city challenge and
opportunities" to explain and discuss with the audience how FIWARE
(http://fiware.org) provides cities and their stakeholders with an
environment that can help them replicate smart cities solutions and
services that are efficient and scalable.

Selected FIWARE demonstrations will also be shown during a special
“demo walk-through” at the end of the 15 October to selected
representatives from Canadian and US cities.

Stay tuned for more details coming up soon!
