HI all, Here are my suggestions of how to reorganize WebUI in the light of the changes proposed by the commission. The changes are also based on the outcome of the internal architecture review. Here are the proposed actions for WebUI in short 1. *3D-UI GE*: Keep them both implementations; work on closer integration/compatibility between the two versions that target different use-cases; strengthen content pipeline 2. *Sync GE:* Keep this GE and strengthen it by moving all DFKI resources from the Middleware GE (in the I2ND chapter) to the FiVES Sync GE to become the new GEri; use additional resources to help integrating Sync functionality also into Context Broker (common API); improve real-time performance and scalability. 3. *AR **GE:* This is a hot topic and it is important to offer a good solution here. Current license issues need to be resolved (probably via original DFKI solution (Xflow)); DFKI is involved in ARVIDA project which is creating AR technology that can be integrated here; CIE seems not to be interested/able to continue development -> continue with DFKI? 4. *GIS GE:* To be discussed further 5. *POI GE:* To be discussed further 6. *CloudRendering: *Will be put in maintenance mode for now, but external update (DFKI via Open Source Community) is planned; No further funding via FI-Core needed. The following GE should be discontinued, as I see little chances to argue for these GEs.* * 1. *2D-UI:* It will be integrated into the 3D-UI as decided before and partially done already. No more work needed here. 2. *Real-Virtual-Integration:* Will be put in maintenance mode and continue to be available. 3. *VirtualCharacters:* Will be put in maintenance mode and continue to be available. 4. *Interface Designer:* Will be put in maintenance mode and continue to be available. 5. *2D/3D-Capture:* Will be stopped and removed as a GE in the medium term. The dropping of funding for 6 of our GEs will free some funding (exact amount to be determined). This funding should be invested in more external promotion of the capabilities of the WebUI chapter as an integral part of FIWARE. I suggest to invest this available funding particularly into: * Execute *QA and friendly testing* of all remaining GEs * *Improve handling of tickets* and reduce time to resolve (already pretty good some some exceptions) * Provide direct help to A16 and SMEs when using WebUI technology * *Better**demonstrate**the****Unique Selling Point**that WebUI GEs****brings to **FIWARE* * Show application of WebUI GEs for *OpenData* provided by FIWARE * Better integration with *ContextBroker GE* as well as new NGSI v2. * Better integration into *WireCloud GE* * Support data visualization in *BigData Analysis GE *(and where possibly SpagoBI) * Dockerization of individual as well as bundles of these GEs with demos to simplify uptake of WebUI technology Ideally, the partners previously involved in these canceled GEs will be able to do this. Otherwise this funding will have to be transferred to those partners able and willing to do these tasks. I have tried to arrange things such that we can keep most resources within WebUI (as I discussed on Wednesday) and actually add to it (e.g. transfer from Middleware). However, some resources may have to be transferred elsewhere based on Juanjo's decisions. I have contacted him about this already, arguing along these lines. Please let me know what you think and provide alternatives, where you disagree.
