Global Retrospective for Sprint 5.3.2
WHAT WENT WELL
ACHIEVEMENT FEELING.
Coaches

  * All the normal activities were handled without any particular problem, including Community Account assignment and incoming general and technical requests from the Startups/SMEs (CEED-Tech, CreatiFI, IMPACT, SpeedUp! Europe).
  * The review of the technical assessments of Startups/SMEs in CEED Tech proceeded normally (CEED-Tech).
  * Some of the accelerated Startup/SMEs in CEED Tech are concluding the acceleration phase and so some final feedback is available and collected by the related FIWARE Coach (Marco Terrinoni) in the shared document accessible at this link (CEED-Tech).
  * The responsiveness and availability of the FIWARE Lab Prague node Team is finally increasing (CEED-Tech).
  * FABulous is preparing the 3rd Open Call and so, in addition to the normal dissemination during some of the Europe events, a dedicated webinar will be used to promote this Call; the related FIWARE Coach (Pasquale Vitale) will be in Milan from 7th to 9th of June for the 3D Print Hub (FABulous).
  * The FIWARE Lab Budapest node Team cooperated in a quick and efficient way (FI-ADOPT).
  * The FI-C3 SMEs did their work on FIWARE integration at the beginning of this year and right now they are focusing more on business planning and development; in addition, the SMEs are preparing the face-to-face review meeting, which will take place at the beginning of June (FI-C3).
  * The FICHe project is now closing (expected: June) and so the related SMEs are now focusing on business development (FICHe).
  * The FIWARE Lab Spain node Team quickly helped a SME with some problems related to a VM (FInish).
  * The SpagoBI team responded quickly to a webinar request, holding a very helpful webinar for the Startups/SMEs (FInish).

Collaboration

  * More alignment between activities and promising relationships under development (i.e TM Forum)
  * Strong collaboration underway to prepare programme-level activities such as sustainability of the acceleration programme, organization of the FIWARE Open Day (november 8, Brussels), etc
  * Better alignment and coordination with EIT Digital

Dissemination

  * Support to May events and FIWARE Foundation event (June 1st) performed as planned.
  * Good planning (with enough time) for FI-PPP Final Event in Brussels (Nov.16).

Exploitation

  * FIWARE Founders event preparation on the 1st of June in Vienna and advance on the creation of the Foundation, discussion of the By laws
  * IoT Platforms comparison/market analysis done
  * Initial study about open standards in IoT, Smart Cities mainly
  * Starting to work on the definition of the individual exploitation template

Press Office

  * Production of materials on-time and with the usual levels of quality. No issues.
  * Day to day operation (Web, Social Media, etc.) fluent and continuous. Success stories continued.
  * Specific peaks to support events solved without major issues.

Apps

  * WireCloud has an initial implementation for the sync endpoint based on websockets.
  * Most of the BusinessAPIEcosystem stories has been finished

Cloud

  * Almost all activities were closed during the sprint.

Data

  * Cosmos Big Data Analysis GE owner had more availability during the sprint compared to previous ones, and reported timely on the progress made during the sprint. Also the previous missing sprint backlogs for this GE were completed in Jira.
  * CKAN team has finally provided the pending FIWARE Academy and FIWARE LAB image for the GE.
  * Direct communication with cloud team (Henar) has helped to speed up the resolution of some reported errors in the GEs by the Cloud team

WebUI

  * Development of most GE on track with the roadmap

Ops:

  * Good progress in all the chapter tasks.
  * Finally, new monitoring chain is up and running in Spain and Zurich. Working in order to install it on other nodes
  * Good interaction with Cloud Chapter (IBM) in order to set up the automatic deployment of storlets.
  * Implementation of OpenStack component version.

Academy:

  * The process to check and validate the new theme is started. First feedback from Ogilvy arrived.

Catalogue

  * The definition of the roadmap for the Catalogue, from now on until the end of the project, has been completed

WHAT TO IMPROVE:
BLOCKADE/RISK FEELING
GOALS/TARGETS/OBJECTIVES

  * WEBUI - Two GE (POI and Synchronization / Tundra) reported short time for implementation due to unforeseen difficulties in attaching third party APIs
  * CLOUD - Storelets still not deploy on FIWARE Lab Node (Spain)
  * APPS - Some tickets for WireCloud backlog couldn't be accomplished due a high level of help-desk tickets in this sprint.
  * APPS - The QA bugs for BusinessAPIEcosystem have not been fixed due to the time spent in the attendance to different events
  * OPS - few activities left behind (some monitoring improvements and integration of glance synchronization) that should be moved to the next sprint.
  * ACADEMY - we had to switch most of the development and this is delaying the activities during this sprint because of transferring knowledge. we do not have many/all feedback from Ogilvy so the impact on the activities due to this team issue is very limited.
  * PRESS OFFICE - Data Privacy Policy at website to be heavily revisited to avoid issues with Data Agencies. (Critical issue to be open and solved in Sprint 5.3.3)

HELP DESK/SUPPORT

  * COACHES - Some HELC tickets on JIRA, related to CEED Tech Startups/SMEs, are still impeded (CEED-Tech)
  * COACHES - HELC-1369<https://jira.fiware.org/browse/HELC-1369> is about a SpagoBI bug and, at current time, there seems to be no concrete action on this
  * COACHES - is about Cloud Messaging (AEON GE) installation problem, just in the last few days the GE owner provided a sort of workaround, but the issue is still unsolved; a stable interaction between the Startup/SME should help in solving this problem.
  * COACHES - Issues still opened and no feedback provided:
     *   COAC-250<https://jira.fiware.org/browse/COAC-250> - EuropeanPionners
     *   COAC-262<https://jira.fiware.org/browse/COAC-262> - SOUL-FI

QUALITY ASSURANCE

  * DATA- -Issues in the naming convention followed by the QA team when reporting issues, implies GE owners need to rename those issues each time to comply with the expected backlog guidelines.
  * DATA - The testing procedures that have been followed for detecting an error are sometimes not well understood by the GE owners, causing delays for replication of the error and its actual resolution.

TEAM: COMMUNICATION/RESPONSIVENESS/COMMITMENT

  * CLOUD - We need more collaboration with the UPM to close the integration with the Cloud Portal
  * DATA - No attendance from incubated GEs owners to any of the sprint meetings and no updates received on the Jira issues assigned to them. This has made it impossible to check/assess the progress made (if any) about them during the sprint.
  * DISSEMINATION - Still waiting for visibility at mid-term to ensure budget will cover major activities planned. A meeting with FI-CORE Coordinator needed as soon as possible.
  * COLLABORATION - Still some of the technical activities are driven by other groups in the project (under more technically-oriented WPs) and limited resources make difficult the reporting activity
  * PRESS OFFICE - FIWARE Foundation Brochure assigned to Press Office in the very last minute, was supposed to be developed by Engineering as part of the Foundation members. Very tight schedule to have it produced and sent to Vienna by June 1st.
  * EXPLOITATION - More collaboration from the rest of the partners in gathering market analysis regarding the IoT platforms and in providing strategic commercial guidelines stemming from their commercial departments
  * COACHES - After requesting for webinars on Wirecloud and Orion GEs, still no answer was received from the related GE owners (FInish).
  * COACHES - Ticket regularly closed but no comments provided

OTHERS

  * AGILE - Neither retrospective nor agile meetings from Sustainability
  * AGILE - No retrospective from IoT chapter
  * SECURITY - The FIWARE readthedocs theme does not look good in HTML in our opinion, in particular, it removes the useful sidebar on the left showing the table of contents, and the text style for inline code and preformatted text does not stand out from the normal text. The original readthedocs theme is easier to read. There should be a way to apply FIWARE branding without chaning the original readthedocs theme that much.
  * CATALOGUE - Aspects to improve: A more precise definition of the specific content of CAT287 (Data Protection Issues as referred to the Catalogue) is needed
  * DISSEMINATION - Support to GCTC to happen in June. Very short notice of Press Office involvement and moderate costs involved.
  * COACHES - The FIWARE Coach for FINODEX (Pasquale Vitale) successfully reviewed the FIWARE score for 30 projects; the comparison with the scores assigned in February for the same teams highlighted the fact that a significant number of projects (13) decreased their FIWARE Score. Some possible causes for this decrease could be (FINODEX):
     *   the initial expectations from the Startups/SMEs regarding the GEs were too high;
     *   misunderstood of right GEs to use;
     *   differences between planned and implemented;
     *   other unexpected cause.
  * COACHES - While promoting the 3rd Open Call for FABulous, the usage of social networks for dissemination had to be increased (FABulous).

Thanks all for effort, contributions and collaboration!!
Kind regards,
Manuel
