Dear colleagues, The business canvas in WP11 follows the methodology outlined here: http://www.businessmodelgeneration.com/book http://www.businessmodelgeneration.com/downloads/businessmodelgeneration_preview.pdf It should provide a holistic overview on complete “package” that our work package is bringing forward. We started gathering input – given the main dimensions – and implying what we already know of your components. Please contribute. We will see on how to layout this finally in the “table” format – but the original methodology does imply sticky-notes – so there should be enough space (per definition) to encorporate this in the final document – if not we will have to layout a one pager. Anyway let’s first focus on the content: the current business canvas as provided in the document is rubbish – it was only an initial copy&paste – so we have to completely redo it with the focus on our complete “offering”. We for sure missed something, so please: feel free to add you thoughts ☺ Best, /Thorsten Key Partners - Application service providers and value added service providers - Integrators - Marketplace & store providers - Software & services companies Key Activities - Enable others to explore new business models and business opportunities within an open service ecosystem (the future internet) - Build “Community of practice” around internet of services and service descriptions (USDL) - Enable 3rd parties to bootstrap ecosystem around services - 3rd parties should adopt and customize contribute to business relevant technologies. - Provide enabling technology as open source and commercially exploitable - Enable new revenue streams and business model interactions in complex environments Key Resources - Design of an open service ecosystem platform for a high degree of automation (provided blueprint with OpenSpecs & Architecture and universal service description paradigm) - Business framework (marketplace, store, revenue, business elements and models) - Composition (application-mashup, ligthsemantic-mashup, service composition and service mashup) - Mediation (gateway) Cost Structure - Core enabling technology are free to use and some provided with BSD-like licenses (which enables commercial exploitation) - Further cost depends on the party adopting the core technology and operating it within its legal boundaries Value Proposition - Universal service description paradigm lowers cost of onboarding, interaction and execution of the complete value chain - Core technologies freely available (easy onboarding, low entry barrier) - Open service ecosystem architecture, open APIs, generalized components freely available - Lower cost in matchmaking and collaboration activities between the ecosystem participants - Increased reach and provisioning of services across business domains - Increased transparency and more - Enablement of semi-automated service trading environment/ecosystem lowers TCD and TCO for involved parties - Enablement of new cross domain business models increases revenue - New opportunities for co-value creation with joint developments and customer-tailored service delivery - Enablement of a “game of many” where everybody gets his fair share - Core value is provided within the ecosystem & the related business transactions - Customer Relationships - Existing partner ecosystem of the industry partners - Connection towards academia in relation to service description paradigm - FI-PPP use case projects and affiliates - 3rd parties (outside FI-PPP) Channels - “Web” channel: Enablement of self-serviced on-boarding via publicly available material (wiki, website, forge …) - Direct channel: o interactions between FI-WARE partners, FI-PPP consortium (see collaboration wiki) o Interaction with 3rd parties o Contributions towards open innovation lab planned and in line with open source strategy - Research channel: related research projects and programs (see collaboration wiki) Customer Segments - General paradigm acts cross business segments – some initial customer segments which currently engaged more deeply are o Transport & logistics o Smart cities o Application mashup providers Revenue Streams - Allows various business models as enabling technology depending on the business strategy oft he adopting companies -- Thorsten Sandfuchs SAP AG Vincenz-Priessnitz-Strasse 1 D - 76131 Karlsruhe www.sap.com Pflichtangaben/Mandatory Disclosure Statements: http://www.sap.com/company/legal/impressum.epx Diese E-Mail kann Betriebs- oder Geschäftsgeheimnisse oder sonstige vertrauliche Informationen enthalten.
