[Fiware-testbed] Cloud Proxy for TestBed #2

Dear all,

I'd like to share some vision we have at Technicolor about the next 2 releases of the cloud proxy and its role inside the TestBed(s). Could you please comment it ???

For the 1st release, the CP (Cloud Proxy) has been distributed as SW running on a standard PC (over a standard Linux distribution). This allowed us to be part of the 1st release but it was not very convenient for testers / adopters.

For the next 2 releases, we want to take into account the comments from the Commission asking for a "nearly industrial" approach and also, we want to be in line with the fact the GEs will be made available to the "Open Innovation Lab" that may include companies that have not signed the CA and thus can't have access to our SW itself but might still be interested by instances (in a similar way to what is done for cloud-based GEs: no access to the source code but access to usage through a remote access). As the CP only makes sense when located at the edge of the public network (home, car, ...), we can't propose remote accesses BUT we can provide HW boxes as instances.

Do you have comments on this approach ???

If it is a valid approach, I also need to know URGENTLY how many boxes we should manufacture (it takes time ...) and who will be paying (we will pay for the first few ones that will be used for FIWARE small scale demos of course) ???

Thanks for your inputs!

Regards
Henk

PS: I take the opportunity of writing this mail to wish you all Merry Xmas and Happy New Year, all the best for you and your loved ones ! (and maybe a nice cloud-proxy under the Xmas tree ??? :-)
